mobility cars have to be used for the person who gets the mobility allowance, you can add a driver to the insurance (you will have to pay for this) but it is still only to be used for fetching and carrying of the person who is getting the allowance

^^^^ Wot she said.

If you get caught using your dads car it will get taken off him. Not really worth it IMO. I've been my mums driver for the past 5 years twice we have been investigated for missuse both time I was either going to pick my mum up from bingo or drop her off at hospital.

Adding a driver to insurance, how much is that?

just a wild guess here, but think you will need to get a quote:giggle:

For a new driver in a mobility car who is aged 18 you'll be looking around £800+

You can have 2 drivers on the insurance at no cost to you. For a third it is £150 more.

Your dad's mobility allowance needs to have at least 3 more years to run for him to be eligible for a car, you need to be 21 to go on the insurance and if they realise your dad is leasing you the car he will lose his allowance!
#10
You only need to be 21 or over if you have a provisional licence and aren't in receipt of the money yourself but please don't abuse the scheme.

my sisters bf used his dads mobility car with no problem and his dad never uses it at all but when my mam had hers she went over 60,000 miles and had to pay loads

They cap the milage allowance so they can sell the cars on at good prices and keep the scheme going. It annoys me so much when people abuse these kind of things!! :x

FYI - The allowance is £180 every 4 weeks.
For that you get insurance, new tyres, servicing when required and also your road tax paid.

As an extra note, if your dad opts for the payment - you have to be on high rate DLA to get the car - you can still get your own car taxed for free. You are supposed to only use your car for your father though.

It's actually been increased from 31st October to 60,000 over the three years.
