Hope you used Kommunists link J, forget the 'stable' version as its well out of date driver wise.
#5
oops no i used the older one
hope it doesnt make so much difference
#6
is it possible to go uninstall?
or do you over write the old file?
many thanks

what streaming media sites are there?
bit new to this many thanks
#7
Just overwrite it. You can also install it as a dashboard, so that XBMC will start automatically when you turn Xbox on.
#8
cheers komm trying to ftp now but keep getting timed out
is there a reason and solution to this? many thanks
#9
Are you getting timeout when running XBMC or UnleashX/Evox?

The latest version of XBMC supports USB sticks upto 4gb.

Much easier than using the flaky dvd drives, just pick up an adapter from somewhere.

Two thoughts on the connection problems.

1. Have you got the right cable, X-Over for direct connection PC>Xbox or Straight through patch for PC>Hub>Xbox

2. Set manual IP addresses. for example..

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.10
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

You may need to specify the DNS as well in which case check with your ISP's help pages for their DNS address or you could try 192.168.0.1 again if running ICS. Not sure if that works or not though.

By the way, it's most effective if you enter the addresses via MS Dash.

I assume this is a softmod for xbox (not 360)

Done mine yonks ago.... should it be upgraded? Everything appears to be working ok. What is likely to have been improved? (The install is at least 18 months ago!)

For me the major reason to go for SVN version was Tuxbox compatibility (for Dreambox and all other Enigma-based receivers).

Guv, if it's not broken, don't fix it ;-)

Yeh, thats my philosophy also! I can now see the excercise here is for file sharing/streaming. Got no interest in that - at least for the xboxes in the kids rooms - though the redocoration has now given them adhoc links and also a hard wired network connection for their PCs. I could hijack that link in the future I suppose if needed!!!!

Oh - and they are loving their BEKO's:-D

On that subject, what's the best connection for the xbox? I was going to buy from deal xtreme a component connector - but it only mentioned xbox360 - so wasnt sure if those ones would be any good. I know I can up the res on the xbox, so just want to be sure to get the correct one!

This was the one I was looking at getting for their machines.

Do you mean shares on your Xbox or on the network?
I have a Buffalo linkstation on the network which i put all my stuff on. All you need to do is setup your network name in the network settings of the Xbox, then add them as a share.
If you mean you want to setup the Xbox as a share then in the network options in XBMC you should have an option for sharing or adding to network.

If you've now got the latest SVN its sources.xml in E:\Userdata BUT you should be able to add them via XBMC add sources. Have you got the shares setup correctly on your pc?
