Mong kills teenager to get money for internet gaming!

This was SO going to happen at some stage.

Kids brought up on internet games think it's the norm. Being removed from normality at an early age and with nothing else to do but pay for internet gaming, they'll do weird **** like this!

The first of many!

"He said he killed Anh Nhu because he did not have money to play online games" - WTF!

On a more serious note this isn't the first time it's happened, I'm sure kids (in, you guessed it, America) have been killing each other for years over Runescape and World at Warcraft. At least they should be, those games totally rock!

As well as Gaming they should also ban TV, Films, Books, Social Interaction, Religion and breathing. Problem solved.

Was expecting heavy handed mod to censor Mong. I guess they realise Mong is his name.

Shucks. Mong plan backfire.

I'm going with the pronunciation Mong the Wong.

Aren't Vietnamese names family name first, so if read in a Western style it should really be Xuong The Mong....

Or Mong the Wong, with a small Ding-Dong.

Xuong DOES NOT mean Wong. I thought you we're a little more educated than that Chief. For those who don't know, Xu = Th.

Either way, I'm loving the idea of having 'The' as a middle name! Gives me credence to be calling my new kid Thor.

“Campaigners have warned about the dangers of online game addiction after a teenager allegedly killed a seven-year-old girl for her earrings to feed his video game habit”

It should read :

“Campaigners have warned about the dangers of ****** up parenting, as this will lead to having ****** up kids that murder people for no good reason.

Arrest the parents.

It is ridiculous to put so much blame on the games. How many of us have gamed our whole lives? We all do stupid **** when we are younger but you can be certain that it doesn’t involve murdering someone to feed a gaming habit.

Arrest the parents, something not right in the crib

I heard he also wears shoes.

I did a bit of research and it turns out loads of killers also wear shoes, somebody should do something about this and ban shoes before more people die!

If he was killing her to pay for shoes, your point would be relevant.

Granted but I would expect far more people have been killed over a pair of shoes than online gaming, but you don't get organizations claiming plimsolls ruin lives or trainers should be regulated.

The kid is a mental who beat someone to death with a rock, he was likely a bit disturbed before he ever started gaming. I remember when I was younger playing a fair amount online and I barely killed anyone.

It's funny how you should criticise what you perceive as Mong's divorce from normality. He's a kid that's into videogames. That's actually about as normal as a human can be. Seriously, name me a kid that isn't into playing in some imaginary scenario. Videogames are just cowboys vs indians but with better technology.

Videogames are just what he does for entertainment. Same for a lot of people. Let's look at yourself, now. What do you do for entertainment? You seek out all the bad things that are happening to people across the world, and the more abnormal and the more extreme, the better. You seem particularly excited by the idea of a 7 year old girl being beaten to death in the woods with a rock, which seems far more unnerving to me than, say, my mate's 6 year old who loves COD.

His little brother is now the main bread winner in the house. :(

the potential to kill and actually acting on that potential doesn't require a video game to drive that event, the catalyst could be anything

Can anyone confirm if were shoes were infact involved? ScottishBloke?

The catalyst was that he needed some cash to use the internet cafe.

I grew up when games evolution was at it's greatest so I guess I got to understand that a 'game' is there to be played when time allows whilst carrying on doing 'normal' things.

It's an issue when kids are brought up on games - the normality of there life is playing games.
Te majority of people on death row have killed to get money for drugs - I'm saying this could be a parallel.

Who'll console the victim's family ?. (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Gaming culture is mental in the far-east anyway!

You should be a mod.

Alfonso doesn't seem to understand this isn't about another case that may be about drugs. This is about a guy who killed a girl because he wanted cash for an internet cafe.
