Hey all, urgently need some help from your knowledgeable selves!
I have bought a mobile phone on ebay(probably my first mistake) for 156 pounds delivered, the seller has 55 feedback at 100% positive with a couple of other mobile phones having been sold before. I realise this is a low amount of feedback but the person had the paypal protection up to 500 pounds so I decided to go for it.
However, I've received payment instructions which were not on the main auction which I'm not happy with - if paying by Paypal the person has said they will not ship the item until they have transferred the money to their bank account which is around seven days to protect themselves from fraud. Of course this means I have no protection whatsoever because if I claim against the seller to get my money back then Paypal will do nothing as the money is gone.
The seller does look genuine and I think they are doing this more to protect themselves but I'm really not happy with it. Firstly, does anyone know of any of the ebay/paypal rules which disallow this sort of behaviour?
I'm not sure how to proceed, even if I tell the seller it's unacceptable and they should post it straight out, they could just agree and not send the item out.
So I guess my real options are to refuse the auction as the payment conditions are unacceptable or go ahead and take a chance. I have just under 100 positive feedback (no negatives) so I feel I can be trusted, I'd really like some advice on how people think I should proceed.
