how do i get my money back for something (£180) if it was listed very incorrectley and i ended up sending the money in the post( insured and well packed) and the seller has just marked it payment unrecived when it was marked recived before, anyway i phoned him saying this is a joke, the bike looks like it was run over by a car which dosent say anything about on the listing and he says he hasnt got the money to refund me -how can people think this is ok to rip people off like this and the buy it now was £500!-had it valued at 50 quid tops!
i saved the ebay page as prove but how should i tell ebay-as wont be pp coverd-also sent him several emails and no returns yet
and took 3 weeks to arrive as claims he got hit by a lorry when i think he was buying time

just thinking why he phoned to say he recived the money as wouldnt be trackable on ebay messages-ffs what a tit

any ideas peoples please?

go to his house and shove the bike down his throat, take your money by force and go home

also why buy something on ebay and then send the money through the post, that's rather stupid don't you think

Where to start CPW sums it up tbh in this heat.

You mean so the seller can be alerted of this thread and he posts to keep us all entertained ;-)
#8
Surely that explains what happened to the bike then if he was hit by a lorry.
#9
if the op plays along this could be an epic thread.

so he got hit by a lorry while riding said bike and sent the damaged bike anyway and you sent him £180 in the post, are you related to him? or is it just a coincidence that two stupid people have completed such a transaction

It would be irrelevant, the member made a mistake.

You have an address, telephone number etc, fairly easy to resolve away from ebay if required.

I'm sure members will chip in with their thoughts.

coming from someone with 13 posts and a mature avatar:thumbsup:
#17
Jack you shoulda known better than to send money in the post.
#18
You sent cash in the post uninsured, 1st mistake.

You payed for an item with cash fro an item on ebay without seeing it 2nd mistake.

You know have no actual solid proof of payment 3rd mistake except the fact he has provided you with the goods so you can argue that you have provided payment otherwise he would not have shipped.

So you can open an ebay dispute whether they will do anything is not known they say not but they have in the past refunded when the buyer has paid cash.......

That's what you can do for now.

i'd correct your spelling mistake in the above post but i fear it wouldn't help you so i wont bother, know the misc? you mean i know how to click the "misc" button at the top and press the "submit reply" button. yes, rocket science

I think he probably understands hes been a bit daft, he is asking for help, so if you dont have any helpful comments, why bother?

If you have sent it insured, you will have proof of delivery? he has also sent it, so we can confirm that he has had it? (wouldnt have sent it otherwise presumably) now showing that he hasnt got it, yet he has sent the bike?? Perhaps he may claim it was an error on his part?

I am thinking that this is leaning towards a civil matter as opposed to a criminal matter. You have the bike, he has the money. The value of the bike is what is in dispute? Perhaps citizens advice may be able to help

Would need more informatiun to see if the fraud act 2006 would apply

You deposit money in your bank account then pay using paypal to draw funds from it, rather you sent cash through the post thinking eBay will keep a record. You have no proof you sent the money.

my helpful advice was to go to the guys house and get the money back, from what i've read i know he's only been earning £3/hour (haha LOL etc) but if he can afford to send £180 cash in the post for some bike on ebay, he can afford to travel a bit to where ever this person lives

I don't know, Cry Wolf comes to mind.

You did however state this only 2 months ago, hence my concern that any advice offered is a complete waste of time.
