I want to see both of them. I heard Jim Carrey is great in Eternal

Pure genius!

Bruce Campbell is a god, and not a bad Elvis impressionist

Interesting that most of the films listed are some of my favourites, dont know what that says about me.

Great movie, great cast, great car chase!!!

Also, recently, I think 'Knowing' is underrated. Yes, Nicholos Cage's performance wasn't all that, but the concept of the movie itself was good. I loved it. It was very weird, but I loved it.

Eyes Wide Shut - Absolutley pointless film!

Half the films here are very well known and in each top 100 films list compiled all over the place thus not underrated just because your mates havent seen it...

Ichi The Killer for me along with The Chaser.

My favourite scene is the one that gets imitated the most, the one where he dodges the Agents bullets on the roof.

Yeah, I see your point but I think the perfect example here is Equilibrium and The Matrix, both similair fims yet Equilibrium becaming very overshadowed (underrated) due to bad comparisons.

So they may not be underrated per say but certainly not what you would call huge cinema sell outs, they made their fame more on the DVD market and through word of mouth.

I have to agree that listing a load of widely know, commercially released, critically acclaimed films in a list of underrated movies seems to be missing the mark a little bit.

how about:

The Myth of Fingerprints (it's the bloke off of E.R. my favourite film after The Big Chill)

Shock Corridor (The best Fuller movie ever made)

Thumbsucker (Elliott Smith soundtrack, great movie as well)

Jesus Son (Billy Crudup, great performance)

Noose (the definition of hidden gem)

The Ice Storm (Ang Lee's best film)

A bit of (lesser known) David Mamet (in the case that none of them are Glengarry Glen Ross):

Spartan
Heist
The Spanish Prisoner
House of Games

Paradise Alley (Sylvester Stallone wrestling movie, the forerunner to Rocky)

Talk Radio (the most underrated of the Oliver Stone films)

P.C.U. (easy going college flick starring Jeremy Piven)

Suburbia (Directed by Richard Linklater, one of the greatest films of the 90's)

I love your work (always had a thing for Christina Ricci)

No Vacancy (Ricci again)

Buffalo 66 (just a flat out great film that happens to star Chritina Ricci)

Shortbus (John Cameron Mitchell's follow up to Hedwig and the Angry inch mixes hardcore porn with an ensemble story about sex and love)

Comfort and Joy (a war between Rival ice cream men)

Local Hero (more cult classic than hidden gem but it is an outstanding film)

Run Ronnie Run (probably the film that made me laugh more than any other, one of the top 10 comedies of all time)

The Ice Harvest (underated John Cusack film)

Pauly Shore is Dead (surprisingly funny considering I hate Pauly Shore)

The Wizard (a 90 minute Nintendo commercial, it remains one of the gems from my childhood)

Angel (early Neil Jordan film, set against a backdrop of "the troubles")

Wet Hot American Summer (Awesome, Awesome film, check it out, you will not be dissapointed)

Igby Goes Down (slightly twisted but never boring)

Kids In The Hall: Brain Candy (seriously funny outing from the canadian comedy team)

D.A.R.Y.L. (Data Analysing Robot Youth Life Form, another guilty pleasure from my childhood)

Colors (Directed by Dennis Hopper and starring Sean Penn and Robert Duval)

The Cooler (William H. Macy on top form)

Southland Tales (some people didn't understand it, but it is an astounding slice of sci-fi)

Dick (underrated comedy that can sit proudly between Mean Girls & Josie and the Pussycats in any collection)

Free Enterprise (a Rom Com for sci-fi geeks, surprisingly good film)

Mumford (the forgotten Lawrence Kasdan movie, worth watching for Jason Lee's performance alone)

Apt Pupil (the forgotten Bryan Singer film, Ian McKellan and the late Brad Renfro throw up an acting masterclass)

Mirrormask (before Gaiman's Stardust there was this little gem that was directed by his long time comic book collaborator Dave McKean)

Pieces of April (Katie Holmes in one of those angsty thanksgiving movies that americans seem to do so well)

Me Without You (sort of chick flick film about lost friendship as two friends grow apart, but obviously a lot better than that sounds)

Prozac Nation (an excellent film based on the novel. starring Ricci)

Brokedown Palace (never, ever attempt to smuggle drugs abroad, chick lite version of midnight cowbow with Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale)

I would also highly recommend Tell No One and Michael Heneke's original Austrian version of Funny Games, RKO 281 (the film about the making of citizen Kane) is definately worth a watch, along a similar vein is Cradle will Rock which is a great movie. as for films about making films, I always had a soft spot for Living In Oblivion.

also a big fan of Smoke, Blue in the Face and Go Fish.

If were including documentaries then I loved Hearts & Minds and Outfoxed, Control Room, Last Party 2000, Wal*Mart: The High Cost of Low Prices, One Day in September, Fog of War, The Thin Blue Line and The Big One
