Is there anyway of checking if a car has MOT and when it expires with just the car number plate????

I know on the VOSA website you can but you need the current MOT number or V5 number aswell is there anywhere that i can check with just the car reg number????

you can get a duplicate from the mot station that carried out the original test without the need for the v5 or the test certificate number, but any other testing station will either need the test certificate number or as you have found out the V5, so the answer to your question is no.

the only thing you can check is whether it has insurance, this is only if you own the car yourself as they website does state, but some have been known to ignore this:
