Motherboard Choice Help

I'm in the process of building a PC and need to decide which motherboard...

I've already decided to go with the AMD 9950 Quad Core processor....I;ve read around but can't find any decent advice.

Also what would be the best graphics card for about 70 pounds, not a huge game player, mainly for editing pictures and videos

Which is the best motherboard for this for about 50 pounds...

thanks

why you going for a amd quad ?
wouldnt you prefer a intel ?

+1 for Intel. AMD is pretty much dead as a dodo compared to the Intel chips. Only good thing they're churning out at the moment is graphics cards :)

the chip he has chosen is more powerful than the Intel equivalent which is £10 more. You have your Intel and AMD fans. I would suggest a nVidia 8600GT for the graphics card, more than enough power for pretty cheap :)

I'd suggest a 8800gt 256mb for £50 from ebuyer//////

Most picture and video editing softwares only use the CPU so the graphics card is immaterial to them.

AMD does have the advantage of much more impressive motherboard technologies so as you don't appear to need a graphics card I'd spend the money on a motherboard with good integrated graphics instead like the AMD 780G/790GX (Radeon 3200/3300) or the nvidia or intel equivelent chipsets.

I'm not sure which one you had in mind but the Q6600 is about the same £120-130 price as the 9950 as well as being lower power than it as well as being faster in 90% of situations.

The situation is not decisive and if you do fancy AMD you'll still get a perfectly competent processor, but if you have no preference either way then intel appears to be the clear choice.

I was basing my findings on Tom's Hardware Guide and the prices on Ebuyer.
