Motorola F3 help

I recently bought a Motorola Motofone F3 to keep in my car for emergencies. I thought that the F3 was not locked to any phone company (advised on HUKD), but when I put another SIM card in instead of Orange, I get the message 'LOCKED'. Does anyone have any solutions? I'm not keen on spending money to unlock a phone that only cost £4.50.

May sound stupid but if its only for emergency use the use the Orange sim that came with it.

Great phone btw.

Its actually the most expensive phone ever, in terms of developer costs, I was reading somewhere...

..all that electronic paper and low power consumption stuff. Very cool.

I want to use it with any SIM card for when I drive to Europe too because I have a foreign Vodafone SIM that has credit on it. Besides that, I don't really want to use Orange and like to have my phones unlocked.

It is the worst phone I have ever used, but at £4.50 I can't really complain too much.

They want £13.00:w00t: . As mentioned in my post I don't want to pay a lot of money (if any) for unlocking a £4.50 phone. Thanks anyway.

PS. Unlockitfree only do Nokia.

Mine was unlocked when I got it, all 3 were actually - bought them for 4.99 from e2save when they had them.

My F3 arrived from Carphonewarehouse for £4.95 with £10 Orange Airtime. Put in my O2 sim in there, no problem, it is not locked to Orange.

I bought one direct from Orange and it was locked. The other was from Carphone warehouse, it was unlocked. Don't buy from Orange I suppose.
