I very much doubt there will be but....are there any alternatives?

A cantilever stand would be the best alternative.

umm why di you prewarn him what you were going to do?

erm because he can take it out of their deposit when they leave to rectify the wall. If they're anything like my walls the whole wall would need re-plastering.

IKEA (and some other places I'm sure) do a 'thing' where you can mount the telly to the 'thing' and put it up against the wall. The 'thing' then has space underneath for dvd/vid/etc. Can't remember it's IKEA name, will have a quick look.

May look to to 're-work' the room around it but failing that, may just do it and take it down for any inspections and hang a picture up :p

Oh, and thanks for the reply Penny Saver but we were going to look at putting this against a wall where theres little space below it (i.e. not enough for a stand)

Say for example the TV came from the wall and broke, and the wall needed replastering. Would my home insurance cover this?
banned#12
It will depend on the home insurance policy. Are you taking out home insuance for the flat or are you thinking you can use the policy from your family home? Also if the insurance company found out that you were warned not to put it up by the homeowner then your totally screwed as they won't pay out and you'll be getting a big bill from the landlord

Just forget about putting a TV on the wall or be prepared to lose your deposits when your lease is up and possibly be evicted if he manages to find out

You do realise that they need to be fixed to a wall?

Not the Tobo, i think.

'Reinforced back panel for a flat screen TV; no need to drill holes in the wall and cords can be hidden at the back.'

True but if you have room for one of those you may as well get a normal TV stand for much cheaper
