Moved X Box - disc not working!

I 'moved' the x box whilst hubby playing a game and now disc won't play. Looks like it has scratches in rings - but can't feel them - if you know what I mean!! Went to game to see if they could repair but their machine broken.
Have read you could try toothpaste or car polish but just wondered if anyone had tried and what the outcome was!! Any help appreciated
Cheers in advance + rep will be left.

Never move a 360 when turned on! It does scratch big rings into games and makes them unplayable.

Never tried toothpaste or car polish, I'd wait until Game's machine is ready.

The xbox has grinded the disc, leaves like smear marks, I took the disc to gamestation to have it cleaned but it still wouldn't work, it was the new GTA too, got it for him as soon as it came out and the baby nudged the xbox whilst he was playing it.

This was on watchdog a while ago. One family was playing guitar hero and their jumping around made the disc scratched and unplayable.
Just hide it and don't tell him! Is there a child/dog in the house you can blame it on!

They told me that its not so much a scratch so I doubt the toothpaste etc would work, its more of a taking the top layer of the disc off kinda thing, no guarantees that game's machine will fix it either.

He was playing it when she moved it, I reckon he'll know it was her.

How long has he had the game btw?

Not a good idea to move any disc player while disc is in playing.
Wonder how the discmans work then though?

Cos you put the disc in place on them, with the xbox is just sits in the tray.

Ah right,I never personally owned one but wondered cos people go jogging with them still and prefer them over mp3's,ipods etc.

Yeh I been told never to move games console etc while on to dust etc.

There is one other thing you could try. You could call the software company (I don't know the game) and tell them what's happened. You have paid for the licence to play it, and all that has happened is that the media has been damaged. They may take pity on you, and if you return the damaged disk, possibly replace it for the admin cost. No idea if it would work but it's definitely worth the try. What can you lose?

This happened to me too, luckily I had only bought the game a couple of days and there weren't any visable scratches on it, I took it Back to gamestation and got another one lol

If it's a microsoft game, I'm sure they'll replace it for free... need to have a look at the website...

Hope u get it sorted..

If it's a M$ game, they wil ltake it back and give you a replacement one for about £10 I think!

There is form to fill in on their website! Only MS developed games as far as I'm aware!
