My mower is vibrating! :(

And no, its not a sit on mower (as Im sure the jokes will follow!), its just a Flymo. Ive only had it 3 years or so.

The last 3 times Ive used it, it appears to be louder and just vibrates.. And Im not sure if Im just being paranoid, but the whole thing just seems like hard work/like it just doesnt cut as well anymore?

What should I try first, tightening screws..? Get someone to sharpen the blade, if that doesnt work then buy new blades? I just didnt wanna buy new ones incase the whole thing needs replacing.

Any ideas from someone not as thick as me would be helpful! :)

Thanks!

Check the blade's securing bolt. Check the blade for any damage like a chunky chipped off by a stone.

Might be the cause as an off balanced blade would vibrate. Other than that it could be something deeper in the mower. You might be able to get a new blade if you need it sharper again otherwise sharpening it shouldn't be too hard.

I think the grass stains might give the game away...

Thanks, gonna give that a go. I didn't notice any chips when I scraped the grass from underneath, but will take a proper look!

Cheers :)

Think your Flymo is about to pop its cloggs. The same happened to ours.

vibration is usually down to an unbalanced blade, could have hit a stone and bent slightly.

sounds like your big end is dry , grease your nipples and make sure the shaft is moving freely
