and what good would that do??? the whole point of having m4b files is they book mark, so if you have a 12 hour long book it doesnt start from the beginning every time you turn the player off.

so i need a player that will play m4b files.
if i wanted a m4b to mp3 converter i would have asked for one.

Thanks for the tip peteivy. I have a few m4b from my ipod when I backed it up, never knew I could convert them for my new sony walkman.

exactly

M4b is the same as M4a

The audio encoding can be virtually anything, but most collomly used encoding for both, .m4a and .m4b, files is the AAC.

"An important distiction to make is in regards to the Protected AAC format, which is an AAC format track wrapped in Apple’s FairPlay DRM system. These tracks are indeed not compatible with players besides the iPod and iTunes, and other Apple devices."

no m4a and m4b are not the same. m4b book marks, m4a doesnt. but both are forms of AAC.

anyway he didnt mention m4a, he said convert them to mp3. which is no good cos mp3's cant bookmark either.

i wasnt being harsh, but i took it that he was, as in i should of searched rather than post here.

Maybe you should have been a bit more specific in your original post.

Oh and you're welcome! ;-)

what could be more specific than "a player that plays m4b files other than an ipod"

sorry if i took your post the wrong way. seemed sarcastic. but perhaps you didnt mean it that way.
