Hi im currently running a 1.6 16v escort and would like a bigger car,been looking at a vectra but there a very little 1.6 and loads of 1.8,im worried about how much more petrol a 1.8 vectra would be compared to my 1.6 escort,is there a site that shows me how it owuld compare like in a chart form?thanks

Parkers won't show you real life figures.

I had a 1.6 Megane and got 37mpg but my current 1.6 Seat only gets 34mpg.

I don't know how accurate their figures are.. I assumed they were accurate.. Obviously different cars have different MPG even if their engines are the same size.

My 1.8 Vectra did about 35MPG on the motorway - are you as concerned about paying road tax as you are about petrol prices cos that's pretty steep now? Having gone from 1.8 Cavalier to 1.8 Vectra, I'm now looking for something smaller with the rising running costs.

would a 1.8 vectra cost me more than my escort in tax?i paid like £102 for 6 months a couple of months back

Probably quite similar... worth looking it up before you buy though. For 12 months mine was £210 last year - I think it's £215 this year & going up even more next year. There is a cambelt(?) issue with my model (2001 SRi) where it has to be replaced every 2 years at a cost of around £300.
