Once again the press making something out of nothing.

you can't say anything about bigots without them over-reacting

Everyone has an opinion brown made his about her,

Tories have a good chance of winning

I was wondering is it the party with the most seats that gets into power or do you have to elect that party leader to be in power?

Never voted never seen a voters card before either

done to death

The ironic thing for me is that I thought he handled the original questions well

This just illustrates a FAR bigger issue-this woman accepts an apology from the PRIME MINISTER of Britain, and its pretty certain that she did,cos brown isnt gonna say she did and then have her come out the door and say she didnt.

Then mysteriously, she is being advised by a PR agent from murdochs newspapers, and you can bet the story she will tell will NOT be complimentary. So where is her integrity, this "innocent hard working woman"?

Isnt it utterly disgraceful, that the press in this country, who should be reporting facts, can actually CREATE facts to influence the outcome of an election? It doesnt matter if its Brown,Cameron or Clegg-the press have too much power, and anyone who will base their vote on the "duffygate" affair doesnt deserve to vote imho.

So Gordon Brown is human,he meets some people who he doesnt like? big deal!

It's no different to people basing their vote on x factor, dumbed down political live back patting (hardly a debate).

This incident is probably going to see the Tories get more votes, I think DC would have to be a convicted murderer to now win now IMHO.

Good post.

Should politicians love everyone in the country because they pay their wages? Do you love your employer?? I've had a go at my bosses face to face in the past let alone behind their backs.

+1 , as I've said before, to be allowed to vote you should have a certain IQ level, high enough to realise just how much the press are influencing this election.

have you seen how the tory orientated media have buried stories like this:

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23809137-george-osbornes-brother-guilty-of-professional-misconduct-over-drugs-for-cocaine-addict-prostitute.do

Now you know if it was one of the Labour cabinet's siblings doing this it would be all over the press and they would be deemed to be lacking moral values etc

Being a Rochdalian, I know full well her issues aren't with the "eastern europeans" becuase there aren't any in Rochdale but yes there are other groups which of course you cannot mention without being branded.

Its a shame he made the gaffe in the town he did because it's home to the most bent lib deb council ever.

A simple test at the polling station should suffice. It should be done on computer. Firstly you choose who you're voting for. You then get a few questions on the party in question, then you answer some general questions on politics. At the end you get a thank you and your vote is either counted or not depending on answer. Voter shouldn't know if their vote counted!

I do love how she is the typical sterotypical northerner though, you could practically hear a brass band playing the theme tune from the Hovis adverts in the background of her interviews,

it also shows how these ''meet the people'' walkabouts are orchestrated

what was it that brown said -' who set this up' other guy says - 'it was Sue'

i want to see an interview with Sue - she should sell her story as i think she will be signing on:-D

Plenty being 250,000 like the official figues released from somewhere that does have a large eastern european population? no? thought not.

Just because a few people work somewhere where you once had a job doesn't mean the local population is overrun.

As for "taking" all those jobs, maybe all the scrotes hanging around for the live interviews outside Mrs Duffy's house should quite living off the state and get some work ethic, if they had some get up and go about them then the economy wouldnt be as bad as it is.

Personally I think its the benefits system thats more ****ed up than the immigration system, you fix that then you wont get people coming over here just to milk the system and you'll get all those spongers out doing the ****** jobs they should be becuase thats all they were educated to do.

What amazes me is that everyone is focusing on the fact Brown called her biggotted because of the immigration issue, she quizzed him on the econemy and she was majorly pee'd off about university tuition fees, damn right about tuition fee's how many students go to uni for the x amount of years of the free ride living on student loans, only to get a **** taking degree which they'll never use and still end up stacking shelves at tesco (nothing wrong with being a shelf stacker of course, but not something a degree educated person should be doing is it).

I'm amazed by the narrow mindedness of some people, media of course only correspond to the lowest common denominator.

No.

It's like people who say "political correctness gone mad" - They're idiots too.

Freedom of speech does not mean "you can say what you want" There are limits. I can't walk up to someone in the street and racially abuse them and claim "it's my human right"

Generally the people that complain about having no "freedom of speech" or who have been affected by "poloctical correctness gone mad" are usually racists and/or Daily Mail readers.

So out of interest what do you consider to be worse; praising a woman in public that you actually consider to be a bigot, or making a comment to the effect that she is a bigot when you think no one is listening?

You see, there are people (several in this thread, in fact) who have made the point that Gordon Brown was just being honest. But the point surely is that he was not being honest, because when he was in front of the cameras he said nothing of the sort. In fact, he said quite the opposite.

It is difficult to find a stance on this issue that justifies both sets of actions by Gordon Brown. If you think honesty is the best policy, so to speak, then fine, but then surely that follows that his opinion expressed when stood in front of this woman originally was representative of double standards? I'm not suggesting that it automatically follows that he should have called her a bigot there and then, but equally there has to be a status quo to such an argument. It is difficult to justify someone's actions on the basis that they were being honest when mere seconds before they were clearly lying.

Labour were more than happy to accept and cosy up to murdoch and for that matter anyone elses (eccleston) support in 97 so for labour apologists to now whine about the media is well a tad hypocritical.

What facts have actually been created by the media? his disgust at meeting with this woman was clearly caught on tape. Here it is again,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8649042.stm

What this shows is the utter contempt that the new labour middle class champagne socialists have for their core support.

As for the op, well it's just an attempt to try and sanitise his bnp leanings by juumping on the back of this whole affair so don't be fooled.

I remember at school (about 16 years ago), all the boys in our class getting taken aside because of complaints against us about our inappropriate behaviour with the girls. This sort of thing goes on all the time at schools, it's fairly obvious that these events are going to happen with teenagers.

It's not right what they've done but I think you've escalated this in your mind. By referring to it as "sexual assault", while technically accurate to a degree, it is in no way as serious as that implies.

That's nothing to do with "political correctness gone mad" That's bad school management and is a horrible story.

But it's not really what I was referring to in my post.
