There seems to be some sort of virus or something going around recently. Sends emails about working from home and earning loads of dollars doing nothing, or some crap like that.

Can she still log in and send/receive emails herself? Is she using an anti-virus? If not she could try installing the free Microsoft Security Essentials.

Check in all the options etc when logged into Hotmail on the web. I believe they add lines to like a holiday message or something similar, so it automatically sends out emails etc. You can just turn it off.

It is an option in hotmail.

Just tell her to follow these instructions but instead of setting one, remove it.
