I have a song at 128kb bit rate, is it possible to increase it so it sounds better? Or can nothing be done?

That technique is commonly called transcoding and is pointless :) The digital information has been removed so increasing the bitrate back up won't bring it back. You're probably best using something like the DFX plug in for WinAmp which can sometimes artificially make stuff sound richer/fuller.

And what track might it be?

MBeeching is correct

ALSO

Even if the song was 320kb bit rate you wont notice a difference between the 128bt version

Too true - I still have MP3s from back in the day when Napster and its clones were popular, when people thought they could increase the sound quality of rubbish files with bitrates like 32kbit to 'beyond CD quality' by re-encoding them to be 256kbit WMA. Can't say it worked especially well...

You got it. Only useful its ifs a 128bt mp3 file if you have an mp3 player / ipod :)

Yep, You can't make 128kbps go higher and improve the quality.

Worth playing with one of these tools tho'
Soundforge or Adobe Audition
