My 360 has semi RROD!

My 360 has finally done the inevitable and is now flashing its red lights at me. It is about 2 years old but the problem is that its two red lights rather than three. Contacted MS who are saying 2 red light fault is only covered under their 1yr manufactures warranty so I wouldn't be entitled to a free fix either!!! Seems wrong that I will have to fork out more money because of their known overheating problems! Anyway around this? Or whats going to be the best way for as little money as possible to get me playing again?

Just tell them its 3 red rings. I know ppl that have done that and got them fixed free. worst that can happen is they would send it back without charge :)

I think my mate done this and got it fixed for free. Although this was awhile ago abit concerned that maybe they have tighted up their policy and end up charging me for the fix, or charing me to send it back.

Yeah. It shuts down and then throws up its lights. A very loud fan just before the 1st time as well

Do the towel trick... basically force it to get 3 red lights by overheating it. Once you get them (which you will eventually) phone up microsoft.?

lol, a mate recommended this to me and said just make sure that you stay with the console incase it sets on fire! lol. Does it actually work? I'm alittle apprehensive to do this if MS might fix the console for free + the same friend said he would attempt a fix for me for free (Although if I choose this, and it doesn't work or it actually does three red-ring, I'm stuck).

towel trick wont workhere as the machne is overheating but cutting out before it overheats enough to give it 3 red rings

open it up and get some of that spray air in a can stuff the stuff used for cleaning computers blast the the whole thing that has been known to work will only cost you about 6 quid to try
