locked up my mbk skyliner 125 last night, its parked in my drive way and i live in a culdesac, its not that big and you cant see my bike unless you've seen me drive up and park it or you walked up and saw it parked there.

i got up this morning got ready to go out, went out side and to my horror it had gone, my gloves had been thrown out of the seat and so had the spare tax disc holder i had in there and the bike cover was just thrown to the side, no sign of the bike lock i had on the back wheel, no broken bits so they hadnt broken it.
the thing is its a very heavy bike, i cant lift it on my own and its a struggle when me and my brother in law try to lift it so how they moved it with the back wheel locked up with the chain is beyond me, just really pisses me off how people think they can do things like this, im really pissed off.

i contacted the police they gave me the crime number etc but i told them what the thieves took out from the seat to see if they can get finger prints and the footprints left in the mud outside and they said theres no point because they wont be able to get anything and now i have to sit and wait while they try find it or if anyother police officers on duty spot it!!!!

Thieving scumbags. Hope they rot in hell.

Claim insurance?

They wont find it as it'll be broken up. Also you are lucky if a police officer even shows up to your call, and you expected forensics to come and take evidence?

They don't care about this kind of thing, and they wont even try and find it.
#4
what ground anchor and chain did you use?

And here is the morale of the story for bike owners. Always lock it to a solid object, and don't rely on just a lock through the wheel.

Sorry to hear of your loss Textreme.

Depends on the area, for example in Leeds, a broken car window must have police to attend as it's force policy. In their defence, you almost certainly wouldn't get finger prints from items like those listed above.

Sorry for your loss, horrible shock isn't it :(

did they lift the anchor? i'm looking for a security solution for my bike. thinking I might get a concrete set y-anchor and almax. or a torc ground anchor (uses resin to set) if ground is unsuitable.

hope police find your bike (complete)

bit late now but cats.i should be bringing out their new ultra small tracking devices in a few weeks (only 8mm or 12mm thick) might be worth looking into if/when you get a bike again.
#12
**** im sorry to hear about your bike mate, bloody scrotes :x
#13
They usually drive around and pick up picks on backs of trucks so youve either gotta put it in garage or lock it do something stationary if leaving outside

i have a decent size hole now in my drive way, they have used something to rip it out, i guess with the fireworks as cover is how they did it, police said they will be lookign out for it, my bike has a faulty rear break light (was meant to be going in to get fixed tomorrow) so the break light is always on full so they said it should help and if they find it they will let me know but they said its most likely kids who will burn it out or ripped apart for the parts so im not holding my breath.

Not worth anywhere near as much, but I can remember as a kid waking up one morning to find that two bikes had been nicked from the garden shed.

Was quite a shock at the time, but I then realised with the insurance I was going to get a new bike! The bike that had been taken was a pile of crap to say the least so I was quite happy.

2 days later, woke up to find the bikes had been left outside the back gate! They had brought them back! Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Think word had spread about who the bikes had been nicked from, so they obviously knew the family. I ould hate to think they brought them back because they were rubbish :w00t:

Anyway, hope you get the bike back in decent condition.

my first big bike was stolen ! not a nice feeling goin out fully geared up to an empty space on the drive !!! :-(
although insurance paid a fair amount more than i did and it didnt go up the year after really :)

yea its not right at all, really hoping the police catch someone riding about on it but going to get on to the insurance company tomorrow and see where i stand and how to proceed from here,

the police said if they do find the bike i can look forward to £150 storage fees....my bike gets nicked, i have to pay for it......
