My car's air conditioning stopped working...

...i think it has run out of ari con gas. Kwik fit will refill it for £45, but is it the sort of thing that is possible to do myself? Or is there anywhere that can do it cheaper?

You can either go somewhere (kwik fit, garage, rapid fit etc) to get it recharged or you can buy your own kit - not sure how much for - from Halfords. I was there at the weekend and saw them instore. Independent garages will vary. £45 is standard - it will last a while...

Russian roulette version. Note the lack of a pressure gauge on that ;-)

Remember to run your air-con for 10 - 20 minutes each day even when cold day; apparantly this prolongs the life of the unit.

yea but the pressure gauge one was £40! he just has to remember if it blows up hes put too much in

£45 is worth it. it only takes around half an hour for a leak test and a regas.
#10
that looked like just the trigger and gauge to me

Also some cars such as my Laguna cannot be topped up without specialist equipment. So you have to get re-gassing done at kwik fit or wherever.

you have my sympathy .... couldn't be without mine
GOOD LUCK

Yeah, probably. Another Halfords rip off then as you can buy it with a can of refrigerant for that. Anyway i'm with fitzybhoy on this. Chances are if you do it yourself you'll have to do it again in 6 weeks after all the gas has escaped again. Hardly economical.

10 mins once a week should be enough.

it may cost you £45, but it should last for around three years.

so £15 a year, using a guestimate of 60 days a year when you might use it, 25p a day. quite cheap really!

Yep, what they said. I knew it had to be run for some amount of time.
