I posted two deals in regards to cheap computer purchases from my uni (www.comprec.org.uk) which keep getting pulled off the website. Its setup by a voluntary group of students to raise money for the student union and is available offline only so it can't be a scam as you've got to go there to buy the computer and exchange cash.

I understand there is a policy on the website where all new businesses have to be "ratified" or whatever before being posted but both my deals for them have now been removed on two seperate occasions, both without warning or any information to the regard of it. The only reason Im aware of this policy is because one of my first deals sufffered the same treatment because the website of the business was only 3 months old???

Im confused because I thought this was about posting good value deals, yet the deals I post seem to be being removed. Hopefully this is just due to a "lone ranger admin" because I feel HUKDers should be able to judge the dealer alongside the deals and not be restricted by deals from HUKD "ratified" dealers. That would be going against the whole trend of the site and the reason for its instigation.

Someone please explain to me whats going on and hopefully point out to me that Im being silly and paranoid!

This might be better in the feedback forum

Could be because your a new member, it happened to me when I first joined

Maybe so, but why? I'm just puzzled about the whole thing. They asked me when my first deal was removed whether I was working on behalf of the business. Even if I was (which I wasn't), i don't feel it should have a bearing on how acceptable it is according to HUKD. If its a deal, its a deal. It'll get voted poorly if its not very good and consistent spam from a member listing poor deals with the same company repeatedly would be a good excuse to remove their published deals. Ive only published 5 or 6, only 3 of which have made it (and got well heated) as well as being amongst varied dealers.

self promotion is not allowed on here, whether a good deal or not, so if you work for them its seen as self promotion, you dont have to agree by the rules but you do have to abide by them, as for your deals getting removed i would assume its because they do believe you work for them or are in some way connected

And even though you have had them removed, you are still promoting them in this thread and another, waiting for a response on whats going on would have been a good start

When your first deal was removed you were contacted by one of the Moderators on the 19th Feburary.

Your second deal has been member spammed. In it you have stated :
this is a student run thing so people are giving up their time to shift these, it is NOT a business

Unfortunately we do not allow any Individual / private sales on HUKD - the deal criteria is as follows :
Please note, we do not allow:

1. Referrals
2. 3rd party affiliate links
3. Amazon MarketPlace/PlayTrade deals
4. eBay auctions/eBay based sellers
5. Self promotion of any kind
6. Spam
7. Non UK sites (except those pre-approved by Admin)
8. UK Sole Traders/Individuals

All new posts, for new companies, by any members, will be checked out, and may be pulled from the viewable forums while we do so.

In addition please note the HUKD Code of Conduct Rules on all forms of Self Promotion :
* Self promotion of businesses and anyone involved with them, charity request threads made without prior permission, auction sites, personal sales elsewhere, links to personal websites, requests for referrals, referral links, third party affiliate links, advertising for personal gain and displaying of e-mail address in the forums is spam

If you do wish to discuss further then I would advise using the button to contact HUKD Admin, Thanks.

I'm still confused as to which of those rules I have broken:

1. Referrals
I'm unsure what this means. Please clarify.

2. 3rd party affiliate links
I'm not affiliated with the group. I merely know of their existence and used them so thought it would be useful for other folks to know.

3. Amazon MarketPlace/PlayTrade deals
N/A

4. eBay auctions/eBay based sellers
N/A

5. Self promotion of any kind
N/A

6. Spam
I'm assuming i'm being accused of spamming as this deal is a repost of a deal I made which was pulled. I never received any correspondence for this. The contact on Feb 19th was in regards to a seperate deal of a MacBook refurb of a completely unrelated business.

7. Non UK sites (except those pre-approved by Admin)
N/A

8. UK Sole Traders/Individuals
N/A.

If I was to post an individual computer of their website, would that be allowed?

Self promotion of businesses and anyone involved with them, charity request threads made without prior permission, auction sites, personal sales elsewhere, links to personal websites, requests for referrals, referral links, third party affiliate links, advertising for personal gain and displaying of e-mail address in the forums is spam

None of those things apply to me. Its not my business nor am I involved with them, no charity involvement, auction site, refferal or affiliating, advertising or personal gain from this.

I waited before and I didn't get any feedback hence the reason for this thread. Also wondering if other people are having similar issues...?

It Admin made it clear that:

If you do wish to discuss further then I would advise using the button to contact HUKD Admin, Thanks

Might be best to do that instead of posting your replies here
