My desire is for a DESIRE

Current contract with Orange due to end soon. Was set on the IPhone to replace it but from what I have read here, just too flimsy for me.

Decided to go for the HTC Desire. I am not very good digging around at all the deals. Definitely want to avoid cashbacks. Any good deals about to tempt me.............please : )

I had a desire for 3 weeks, but managed to get it swapped for a Samsung Galaxy S which ive now had for a week.

Change your desires. The Galaxy S is a similar spec, but is just so much better. The screen is superb. You cannot read the desire screen outside. Graphically, the Galaxy is the best there currently is. I was shocked to see it running Quake 2 at 60fps. On the desire it was laggy. Scrolling down an internet page is instant and smooth. Every other phone ive seen needs to play catchup and fill the missing text and images.

Ive shown my phone to a few friends at work. So far, 4 are currently in the process of getting one. That should speak volumes.

i have no trouble reading my desire screen

Try taking it outside and come back and let me know. But whatever, are you trying to suggest the desire sceen is equal to or better than the Galaxy S?

How'd you get this deal? Was it with T-mobile or through another upgrade company?

I was torn between a Desire and Galaxy S too, but now wanting to get the Galaxy S when my upgrade is due on 19th august.

three just offered me the desire for £26 a month with 1600(2000 after a bit haggling) any network minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited 3-3 mins and 1gb internet. Might be worth trying to find somebody ready to quit 3 and take over their contract if they can get the same deal they offered me. This was an upgrade after 18 months on contract.

I decided to go with the wildfire with 1600 any mins, 2000 land line mins, unlimited texts, unlimited 3-3 mins and 1gb internet for £20 a month. I'm happy with my G1 so will be selling the wildfire as the screen res is horrible and has no keyboard.

there is a lot of info on google, sites comparing these 2 phones. Appear very evenly matched so far. Friend has a Desire, so it will probably go for that one, lots more help nearby !!

Up to you.... but Id seriously suggest you take a look at both phones before you plump. And the "help" wont be an issue as they both use the android platform. And yes, I am insinuating you will regret going for a desire after seeing the Galaxy S. Ive gone through iPhones, several HTC's etc. None has kept the wow factor as long as this phone.

Never had a techy sort of phone, just basic to make calls. Now need something that organises me !! That is why the iphone appealed, ease of use but I now know it is all fur coat and no knickers so it is between these 2.

Suppose it also depends on what deal there are to be had. Appears to be better prices on the HTC than the Samsung ??

To be fair, I think you just need to keep 'em peeled in the deals section. I do think the Galaxy S has now overtaken the Desire in the demand stakes, so that in itself might make the better deals harder to find for it.

Have you had a look in store yet? It is worth doing so..... but see if they will let you take them outside in the sun.

Hi iglimpse if you dont mind moving to vodafone I recently got a good deal through vodafoneukdeals on twitter. They can offer cheaper deals online and do both the desire and the samsung might be worth a try

This is what I did also.

My desire deal was for 600 mins, 500 text and 500MB data for £20pm for 15 months and the final 3 months at £30. But I uncovered a couple of issues (probably not desire related), had £30 credited (so effectively a £20pm contract for 18 months.), given a sure signal box for home and got my request to swap over to the Galaxy accepted. Win win.
