Just wanted to shere my sad news with you all,
while my uncle today took my english mastiff out today for a walk on the lead as always, she was attacked by a pit!
it was off the lead and wouldn't let go, the owner was kicking and pulling at it to get it off her
Had to take my big baby the vet to be stung to a £85.00 vet bill luckily she didn't need stitches. I personally want to make sure we see the other person again and make them pay but my other half said he will sort it. Am I Right I should really contact the police as it could be a child another time. This person is not very nice anyway so wouldn't care what you said to them or done.

that is terrible, if the dog has a temprement like that it should be muzzled next time it could be a person.
#2
we get these cases all the time at our vets. i would contact the police. and also get the persons dog who it was to pay any charges fom the vets.
#3
Yes contact the police, as you rightly said it could be a child next time. I think that staffys should be on the dangerous dogs list and should not be kept as pets. We have had quite a few attacks on children by these dogs in our area.
#4
Contact the police, you would regret not doing so.
#5
yes contact the police and the RSPCA hope yours gets over it quick

the law says pit-bulls aren't allowed out in public without a muzzle on.

Thats correct. The owner is liable for prosecution if they allow their EPT out in public without a muzzle that is securely fitted.

Phone the police and report the owner. Your dog could have been a little child.
#8
Yeah report it to the police, as they need to be aware of this dog attacking.

Especially with it being a pit bull terrier.

happens all the time round here.

i know it sounds horrible, but a quick boot to the head usually gets rid of them. Gotta look after your own etc.

just to be fair tho:

1) it aint just pit bulls
2) seems to be the in thing these days... dogs off leads etc. ****ing put them on one you cretinous moronic *****!

big upwards kick to the head or throat, as u say its terrible, but im sure i could cope with killin a dog better than i could seeing my dog/child/family mauled...

if i saw one coming over and it looked a sh*t (u can just tell cant ya) i wouldnt hesitate to take my boot to it.... sad times we live in where ppl let there dogs off lead like this.
what was said to the other dogs owner, did you get there name or anything?
#14
i always wear my steel toecapped boots when im out with my dogs, just sayin.

Are you thinking of English pit bull terriers as pictured above?

Staffies are one of the most placid breed of dog, generally big daft softies, there is a reason they earned the nick name "nanny dog".

Staffies are one of the most placid breed of dog,

unfortunately tho they are the choice of 99% of chavs when getting a dog and are brought up to appear vicious so the chav feels hard when hes out with it

The picture is of an English bull terrier not an English pit bull terrier and they are one of the nicest dogs around, I should know, I've kept them for over 20 years :)

Ban the bad owners not the breed!!

Not funny at all when an idiot gets hold of a dog.

This was posted only a few days ago, however, in my opinion, one picture doesn't make any breed of dog 100% safe. They all have the potential to do a hell of a lot of damage.

This is a pit bull, by the way..

Very unusual, they have really good temperaments:?

totally agree!

Have to agree, staffies are softies and the ones in my family have never shown any agressive behaviour, especially being surrounded by children.

Plan on getting one when I move

You wont regret it!
You only get out of a dog, what you put in.....time, consistincy, love, and authority are all vital!

They take pride of place on the wall, with my baby lol!

Def report it to the Police & rspca, like many in the thread say it could be a child next
#30
report it to the police!!!!
#31
That's not good.

All dangerous dogs and their owners should be put in a big hole and set on fire! :whistling:
#32
Love staffys have 2 myself and they are the softest lumps of dog you get going!

Kennel Club recommend them with children along with one other breed of dog! I say its the owners not the dog.
#33
Thats awful I would report it to the police, that horrible dog should be put down and the owners fined thank god it was not a child. hope your dog is alright.
#34
my uncle never got the lads name, yeah he was only young but my oh reakons he will see the dog again
my uncle actually said my dog give back as good as she got trying to save herself. so now I just hope she done damage to that like it did to my poor baby :(

a pit bull isnt the same breed as a staffie.

I would report this dog as it attacked and wouldnt let go. It shouldnt be off the lead in a public place. Shame you couldnt have spoke to the owner about it.
#36
I had an incident when I was walking my Akita bitch, I was approached in the park by a guy with a pit, he asked if he could breed his with mine, I told him where to go. 10 mins later the Pit launched itself at mine from across the park, not sure what to do I let mine off the lead so it could defend itself/
The pit tangled with the wrong dog, it ended up needing surgery.

The police couldnt recognise a Pit if one was clamped around their legs, dont blame the dog its always the owners fault.

Perhaps it was trying to breed, not fight?;-)
