Yeah Buy It Now is only available until the first bid comes in.

Wow I did not know that, Is there a reason for it?

cause when theres a bid no one can buy it now

You chose auction format WiTH buy it now, therefore it disappears after the first bid.

Same thing has happened to me (twice).

IMO they should explicity state that the buy it now is good only until the first bid, or there should be an option to let it run (and this should be default IMO). Do they still charge you the 10p or whatever for listing "buy it now"

You have it as an auction and a "Buy it Now"

The Buy it Now doesn't automatically disappear after the first bid, but only when the highest bid gets near to the "BIN" price. If you think about it, it does you a favour as the auction price can then go well over your BIN price, so its a win-win.

You can also set a "BIN" only so there is no auction and is probably a bit cheaper to list

Selling Format

Auction-style
Receive bids on your item and sell to the highest bidder in a fixed length of time.

You may also include a Buy It Now price in your auction, which does not appear after the first bid.

Are you thinking of reserve prices?

If you familiarised yourself with the auction formats etc in the help section on ebay before listing an auction it wouldn't have happened to you twice.

You can't blame Ebay if you chose not to read the rules i'm afraid.

√ The Buy It Now price is available only for a limited time, in most cases until someone bids on the item or the reserve price is met. Once the Buy It Now option disappears, the auction proceeds normally. Learn more.

No mate. I've done auctions with BIN offers also but not for a while as to be honest I'm well over ebay and paypal even more so

Maybe things have changed recently but in my experience, the BIN price only dissapeared after the current bid got near to it, not after the first bid. It depends on the gap between your start price and BIN price IMO i.e. if your opening price is £1 and BIN is £20 I wouldn't expect the BIN to disappear after a £1 bid. If the start price was £9 and BIN £10 then I would

Happy to be corrected but that's how it was last year...

Not true I'm afraid, as mentioned above, the BIN price disappears as soon as you have a bid on the item as you cannot then sell it by BIN as the current bidder has over-ridden it and, unless someone makes a higher bid, will win the item, you are probably thinking of a reserve price. If you are wanting to keep the BIN price then you have to set it up as JUST BIN at the start, clicking the "fixed price" tab instead of the "auction" tab that is pre-set automatically, it will then not have a bid price at all, just a BIN price.

Also in reply to your second statement, I don't think it was like this last year as I've been selling on ebay for 4 or 5 years and it's always done this.

Hope this makes sense and clarifies things.
