http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177669#

It's £2 cheaper at Saverstore, but these are a known bad company. I see no reason why he had to get removed so swiftly? (we're talking seconds...)

Hmm...

Very odd how one of the biggest computer e-retailers would resort to posting their own deals? crazy..!

I used to know one of the business sales guys... they are pushed far too hard and sometimes are left with no choice but to resort to stuff like this.

It's a difficult one really because it does badly affect HUKD when they are banned, but then I wouldn't want self promotion either...

Maybe the big clue was the merchant name lol

"Ebuyer DO NOT POST"

So the decision is that we should all miss out on ebuyer deals because they p'ed off the admins ?

I come on this site to find deals, not "deals that the admins see fit" sure if a company is screwing people out of money, then I don't want to know, but a reputable retailer I would expect to be on here.

Maybe the admins need to think about what is best for the site!

Personally, I don't overly see the problem.... :?

So some unscrupulous sod comes on here and self-promotes.
If the deal that they are promoting is rubbish and not a deal at all people will vote it cold, and / or say, "But you can get it cheaper at xyz!" (we all know that happens so often anyway!), so the deal will get no rep, no heat, and certainly won't be a "Hot UK Deal".
If the deal IS good though, and is an amazing deal they will get rep and heat, get it promoted to a "Hot UK Deal" and everyone will be happy that they can get the ultiate gaming laptop for a fiver!.

I honestly don't see the problem, this 'group' (HUKD) is regulated by it's users (by adding heat, or voting cold), and the deals then speak for themselves, irrelevant of whether it was posted by Joe Blogs, or EBuyer's Chief Sales Manager.

I think the only ones being 'harmed' in this will be HUKD and it's users. The user's miss out on potential deals, and if it happens that there is one deal site that allows ALL companies, and then there is HUKD who 'filter' who's deals are allowed and who's aren't, users may well start to migrate away.

Obviously the Mods will do whatever THEY feel to be correct, but the above is my take on this...

What's best for the site (IMO) is a total lack of self promotion, frankly ebuyer deserve the ban and it hopefully sent out a warning to anyone else thinking of doing it...

If you begin to allow self promotion this site becomes a carbon copy of the 'other' deals sites out there. I only wish they'd ban bryanair, i'm sick of baggage monkeys jumping all over the enevitable 2p winter 'sale' championing it as the emperors new clothes.

Well, I used to work for ebuyer (not any more! - they made me redundant). They probably did self promote, they are an enthusiastic bunch in the marketing department, and what's best described as "a bit cheeky".

The truth is they po'd off HUKD by not paying up. HUKD is funded mostly by commission generating affiliate links to all the deals - and ebuyer refused to pay.

Ebuyer don't have any commission or affiliate system, mostly because the margins are cut very close on some items - commission links could end up losing them lots of money with the wrong items at the other end.
