My faith in society has been restored - slightly!

In light of recent news stories and such alike i thought id share this amazing thing that happened with me today.

I lost my phone out in a country park, in a flat grass area where people can fly kites, play ball games etc. When we left i didnt know id lost my phone, we drove about 20 miles, stopped and had a meal, and then i remembered i needed to make a phone call!

Sure enough i couldnt find it, so i rang it and it rang then cut off, then when i phoned again it went straight to answer phone. So i drove all the way back to the park and me and a mate searched for only a small while when this girl aged about 5 came up with her mother and handed me my phone!

She said her daugther wouldnt let it go until she gave it back to the owner!

I couldnt believe it! - It was like 3 hours after id left!

Truely amazing! - I bought all her kids and her ice cream!

I am still in shock i got it back!

i dont know how people feel but i actually felt like id lost a piece of me! Plus someone else would know all my mates numbers and my home number etc and id just feel like i was exposed. I would of paid more to get it back but didnt have enough cash for anything other then icecreams!

Happened to me once, left my phone on the train when going on holiday and when I got back there were messages on my home phone answerphone with contact details how to get it back. The guy wouldn't even take a bunch on flowers for his wife.

3 months ago I found a phone in Asdas and called the Home number in the address book and arrange for the person to collect it. Karmas all "swings and roundabouts" ya know!:-D

If you find something in a store, wouldn't you just return it to the customer service so people can just come collect? Well I guess if its a mobile, then its easier to just call. That little girl was taught very well. Great to hear.

I found a wallet at Sainsbury once, returned it to customer service without opening it. The woman staff checked for money immediately and turned to another staff and said she doesn't believe there was no bills inside...someone must have... Maybe she wasn't implying anything but I was a bit annoyed. Ended up just telling her to check security cameras as I walked away.

Good story mate - damn good to know there are decent people amoung us.

I think you are right about Karma. If it is possible to contact the owner of the missing phone/wallet/keys, then you have to judge in your mind what is right and what is wrong. I always think that if it was me or a friend/family, then I would be so happy to find that someone was like-minded to try and return the item. If I were to keep the item, then I should only expect that the person who found my/my familiy's/friends' item would also keep it. I hope we are all minded like the former here - we reap what we sow.

Before my phone was returned I probably would've pocketed the phone and thought no more of it:oops: but the previous incident did change my prospective on things:thumbsup:

Balance up all the 'recent news stories' and your real life and, it seems to me that nearly everyone is pretty nice and the news is just out for shock/horror/frighten/sell.
It's a nice thing that happened for you today, mind you with the price of petrol and all that travelling .... shock/horror.;-)

Me and my man found a purse today at the park and handed it to the park wardens.

It had £17 in it, i'd want somebody to do the same for me, if i lost mine.
