My iphone won't turn on - any helpful suggestions or experience with apple warranty and fixing things?

I have had my iphone for 2 weeks, it worked perfectly and I was really happy with it but the other day the battery run completely down so I left it to charge with the provided charger overnight (whilst the phone was off). In the morning it would not turn on so I then tried using my other charger for my other ipod on the iphone, left it a number of hours, still no turning on - blank/black/dead screen, nothing at all resembling life in the thing. Both chargers will charge up my old ipod so it is not a problem with the chargers. And the hold button is not on hold.

Basically, has anyone experienced this, have any suggestions or know how good apple are about fixing things and returning it?

The phone has been well looked after in a silicone case, screen cover, not dropped, not maltreated in any way in the 2 weeks it has been used.

Oooh you star! The first sign of life in the little thing for days...it shows the battery low sign - but the chargers are 100% working...hmmmmm

yeh, plug it in when it does that, then it should come on :thumbsup:

I have just done that. It has the little white lightning bold sign under the red slither on the battery sign which is more than it had when it was on the charger before. The only thing is the battery indication bit is not moving ie indicating that it's charging - is this normal?

Great to know if all else fails, did they have a quick turnaround in fixing it?

The iphone still not turning on or charging :(

Could you tell me what dfu mode is? Is that the one when you press the power and home button together?
Naeem this is the 3g one but a fair few 2g ones have sold on here on the fs/ft section so might be worth having a look so you can find a rough price for yourself.

I tried it last night but no luck. Took it to Carphonewarehouse today thinking they miht be more clued up than o2 but they were less than helpful so I decided to take it back home and try the advice of power button, home and then plug into the computer one last time and it it is working again! You guys are amazing. You have made one lady very happy :-D

Under a week turn around to Holland via UPS last time I got mine done, on it's way back it left Holland at 2am got to the UK at 6am and was back in my hands before lunch!

Glad to hear all's well, but just incase it plays up again, if you have a product in warranty they are fantastic. They fixed my OH's laptop within a week, and my friend had a cracked screen on his iphone (which was his fault!) and not only did they replace the phone for a new one but gave him one with more memory too! :thumbsup:

I know problem has now been solved for OP but if anyone else has similar problem and is reading this, if you have an Apple Store near you, take it in to the Genius Bar. If they can't fix it, they'll replace it there and then. They did this for me the other weekend - totally impressed by their service - 10 mins after walking through the door I walked out with new phone. O2 themselves were totally useless and said it could take weeks to send away / come back.
