Get the blooming thing to work aagin?

Was working fine the other day, then connected it to laptop to sync and charge, but when I disconnected it after charging during the day, it won't even switch on now, or be recognized by iTunes.
All I get is a message about installing a driver for it, but it's not called an iPod in the message. Someting to do with a SanDisk something or other, which presumably is the memory manufacturer.
Does anyone know how to reset/restore it in the OFF position as it won't turn on anymore????

All help gratefully received.

check on apple's website how to reset it - usually you toggle the hold switch on and off a few times then hold down the centre and menu buttons together or something along those lines. Best try it with a power lead in as well. once you get it started, you can reset it thru iTunes

I had this too, just got a power lead, plugged it and and it worked again. It happens after an ipod update, nothing to worry about normally ;)

It will not work just trying to power it with a USB lead it has to be one you plug in the phone socket. Hope I helped ;)

I tried this last night, but nothing happens as it won't switch on in the first place. Thanks for the help though

I haven't got a power lead for it. Will try it through my iTrip in the car. Hadn't thought about that. Will let you know. Thanks for the help though

It sounds like the batteries gone. But to make sure you need to charge this at a mains. Do you live near an apple store? I'm sure if you went there, they'd try it on a charger for you?

watch out - the battery may still be knackered.

I have a 30GB photo at home that packs up every so often thru lack of use. Think it has done in the hard drive now as every so often the music on it disappears and needs re-loaded.

It's so easy to change the battery, just grab one off ebay, the side pops off the ipod and its a simple connector to put a new battery one :) If you need any help/advice PM Me :)

Have just checked on eBay, and it looks like mine needs soldering. Is this the case?

Is this the right thing, and the right price for one? Item number: 140232419193
