switch off your laptop and then switch of from mains the wireless router box ( i'm not exactly sure what it's called , but bascially whatevers attached to the mains that is to do withthe internet ) , for 30 seconds .

Then put everything back on , make sure your wifi switch is on and rightclick on the wireless connection icon and see what is happening with your connection ie strength etc .

If this doesn't help , then contact your ISP

Try this....
Go to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections. Right-click on the Local Area Connection and choose Properties.
On the General tab, scroll down in the list box till you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and highlight it. Then click on Properties.

local area connection

Now make sure that both Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are selected.
obtain ip address automatically
Now try to renew your IP address and see if you can connect to the Internet or network. If this does not work, you have to make sure there is not some kind of software on your computer that could be blocking all the ports on your computer.

Disable any firewall software and remove or disable programs like Zone Alarm and Norton Internet Security as they can get in the way sometimes.

Also, as mentioned by 'The Sedge', make sure the wi-fi button is on or is selected

Shut down the laptop correctly.

Take the battery out and power adaptor restart.

On my Dell F2 is the wireless key switch. just check you haven't caught it by mistake. (on mine you have to press the 'Fn' key with F2 so it's not easy to do it by mistake, yours may be different).

Take the battery out and power adaptor restart.

Eh? What difference does that make?

Shouldn't swear at the undercover mods.

It clears the memory, as sometimes memory errors cause the problems.:)

it can be the router itself, mine sometime cant obtain the ip address on some off my computer but yet i can still get the net on laptop.

by switching the router on and off can fix the problem.

Maybe last night your lappy had logged on to a neighbour's unsecured network and then you lost connection when they possibly turned their router off. You may need to go into your routers setup page and add your MAC address to a list of authorised users.

Was you running it of its battery? if my batt level gets critically low then it disables the wi-fi, then as mentioned above Fn + F2 turns it back on.
Does your wireless indicator light come on?if it has one

Sorry if posted already, but most common reason for losing Wifi connection is interference on the wifi channel. This can be caused by a neighbours wifi or tv sender etc

When you reboot the router it should see an issue & switch Wifi Channel, tho mine never does. Easiest way is to manually change this yourself. The main channels used are 1-4 but this goes up to 20, for me using channel 2 eliminates any of these kind of issues.

it was frustrating seeing Wifi light on the router just laptop unable to find network

Hope this is of help

Opps, just read the resolution: My comments still may help some of you tho ;-)
