No, they're just being nice. I don't think I'd want anything you'd just wiped either.

it doesnt matter now because if you give them something they know you only did it because your son got something and that is not what they gave for i would give them some wine or sparkly for new year in couple of days

but it's make me feel bad. i have been neighbor with them for over ten years. i never remember them names, but they talk to my o/h and son a lot, i think.

unless they have kids then it is not necessary

Then ask your son to write a thank you card (or do it for him if he's too small). Much better gesture. And get him to knock the door and give it to them in a few days.

 I dont think they are expecting anything in return, its a nice gesture on thier part & im sure that just a thankyou card would be more then enough.

Give them a brick upside the head for giving you nothing ?. You can wipe the brick first ( I imagine its wrap)

Clearly not, and a lame attempt at a retort.... They tingle only when suspicion arouses the air.

I wouldnt expect a bottle or anything if it was me - the gift is for your son - christmas is supposed to be for the children! but a thank you card from the child would be lovely and shows appreciation

Soooo many spelling mistakes in the OP's post, i wouldn't know where to start to correct.

Whatever you do, when you swipe something, make sure you don't swipe one your neighbours items and give it back to them :)

get them somthing for new years

We give our neighbours presents (and get them back, but we started it) but we dont EXPECT them to get us stuff just because we get them something.

We are quite close with our neighbours either side (invited them to parents vow renewal where there were only 40 people invited). The first year they were there though we gave them stuff, did the same with our previous neighbours.

Its up to you whether you give someone something, should do it because you expect something in return (so therefore you shouldnt feel obliged to give back)

Saying that though, its times like this that you keep a spare box of chocolates and bottle of wine wrapped under the tree for (with no tag!)
