my o.h has swine flu......

he felt ill yesterday with sore throat then literally within hours he couldn't move out the bed full of aches and pains, headache feeling sick and sweating with a high temp
Now come on it does make you feel stupid asking was it just normal flu or swine flu.
He got up this morning and said he felt a bit better so I thought yeak it must just be normal flu! ( probably the amount of pain killers hes been taking ha shelped!) thenhe felt ill again so I made him fone doc for doc to say he thinks he has it and to stay in bed for 5 days and just take pain killers unless he feels worse fingers crossed he'll get throught it without the tablets so has anyone else not had to have the tamiflu?I do hope he'll be okay but whats borse is me and my two boys 7 and 4 are asthmatic anyone else had it????

#5
Have you had it confirmed?

My daughter was prescribed Tamiflu over the phone without even seeing a doctor last week and she is alive and well and her usual self.

No adverse reaction to the Tamiflu either.

It doesnt really matter if its regular flu or swine flu the effects are just the same,

i made him ring nhs direct yesterday and when a doc foned back he actually asked my o h to go to the clinic!" no joke he told them he couldn't even move out the bed which he couldn't. you're being told not to go the cdocs and they're asking him to go and spread all his germs!

No idea. I watched him out of the corner of my eye, he didn't seem sick, so i guessed they were for family at home maybe.

Exactly - it's just the fashionable variety to have at the moment.

All this fuss about people dying from it is just the current media soap box. So far it has the same mortality rate as bog standard flu.

my friend across the road might have it and she was round here last week EEEKKK
my friends baby girl has it, and my sister in laws best mates twins have it :(

Im glad we have some people on here who dont believe in all the rubbish about swine flu. It is a doctored version of the flu, it didnt just 'mutate', it was made.

Women are the ones who blow this whole thing out of proportion and make it worse for everyone else. I mean, afraid and scared of germs?? What the heck is all that about eh? I just wish someone would sneeze in the face of these people on a daily basis.

Dont believe all the stuff you hear on the news. Instead do your own research and make your own conclusions.

Will they listen? NO. Ofcourse not. Lazy mentally dull ******s.

Tamiflu isnt gonna do anything for you. Actually taking a bunch of pills is just not gonna do you any good. Ive been through the whole aches and pains stage a few weeks ago. Did i moan i had swine flu?

If you believe something to be worse than it is, chances are your mind will make it seem as bad as you think it.

Make him some soup and put him on a soup and meat diet. All will be well in a week,

I rang NHS Direct on behalf of somebody else at the weekend. There is swine flu rife in the area but I was not ringing for me. Doctors cleared the guy I was ringing for but I was almost issued with Tamiflu due largely to being in an at risk group. I said I didnt think I needed it. I dont think I have had it or got it. I wonder though if I have been included as a swine flu statistic and if instances like mine might be inflating the numbers of sufferers.
I have read that they are prepared to give Tamiflu to people in known at risk groups if it is rampant in the area and also possibly to carers of persons who may be in at risk groups cos if the carer is ill it could have impacts on those at risk. Strange thing though. Even when they were going to give me Tamiflu they said I did not need to stay isolated.
If someone has lots of Tamiflu they may be a flu friend and collecting on behalf of others.
To the OP. You should ensure that NHS Direct know your position. They may make more Tamiflu available. Tamiflu only reduces the length of time you will be affected though and can have some nasty side effects itself and may be problematic itself if you suffer from certain conditions. Its not something I would want to take without very good reason. My opinion only but I think best defence is to ensure that you have good balanced diet. In France where they dont appear to have had any fatalities they are often treating with isolation bed rest and paracetemol.
Hope you are all well again soon. Take care.

Dont mock what you cant understand. Some of you should count yourselves lucky to have such a large brain. Spinal cord would have done the trick. Sheep the lot of ya!

Nothing sexist about my post at all.

Symptoms for every flu are the same. Therefore doctors are diagnosing everyone with "flu" to have swine flu. EVeryone needs to catch it now before it muatates into something stronger in which tamiflu cant stop.

Tamiflu doesn't stop it. it just helps alleviate the symptoms and shorten the length of time you are ill.
