My old faithfull pioneer 111d has died

£0.00 @
My faithful burner has burnt his last so which of the below is the best replacement? It will be used for DVD's CD's and **ahem** 360 back-ups.

Damn its late im trying to work out the price you paid? Is £15.79 each about right?

Which one is that on play I cant seem to see it let alone an LG at £17.99?

Ah is it this one? http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5985209/LG-GH22LP20-22x-Internal-IDE-DVDRW-Lightscribe-Drive-Retail-kit-inc-Bezels/Product.html

:)the lg is fantastic it is so quiet even at full spin that the first time i used it to burn a cdr i had to check to make sure it had worked. i got mine 2 weeks ago at pcw for £25 which i thought was good but for £15.78.... gonna get another one if they got it in stock for when my DVD drive fails

Yeah the xbox's need to be "altered" ive got both the original (well 3 originals at the minute usually more, I just cant resist when i see one for a tenner, the last one was a mint crystal never had the case opened yet not a spec of dust on the fan! I feel a EL wire mod coming on here!) and a 360 elite. Both generations of xbox original and new is done via software rather than chips now (although i still prefer the chipped originals over soft-modded). The original is easy as pie to do, so easy in fact my 5 year old lad soft-modded the last one with me just talking him through it!

The 360 is quite a bit harder though, so unless you are comfortable with the risk of bricking it if you cant follow a written guide leave it! (I did it on my elite less than an hour after buying it new:w00t: very scary indeed, especially when the power cut halfway through, if I hadnt written the drive key down I would have been stuffed!).

The software with burners is usually a basic copy of nero and an older version of powerdvd for playback, certainly not worth paying extra for, I usually go for OEM drives (optical and hard drives) just means you dont get a fancy box and any screws or cables (both of which I have stacks of - they seem to breed in cupboard whilst no-one is looking).

Software for back-ups is easily available online although ripping 360 discs is not easy, its easier to download them!

That looks ok but i'm put off as it doesnt give a model number so no way of finding reviews of it!!!

Hi
I was checking my local PCW for stock, reading reviews on loads of different drives for days before deciding on the 2 I went for. Went in to my local PCW and they had about 6 on display. NO STOCK on website checking the same branch. If you live near yours I suggest to just go in,most probably sitting on the shelf  Shhhh, don't tell any one :whistling:

* Included software on disc - Power DVD - Power Producer - Nero Express - In CD - Acrobat Reader

I've used the Pioneer range for years since my first .108 . I now use the 111 & 112 . I just ordered on Monday from my supplier for work 5 x Samsung Combo units . They sent reader/writers .I think they were the 202's and were abou t £13 plus vat . They musn't do the CD writer/DVD readers any more [combo's]. But still agood price .All the Samsung ones we've had in the past came with the disk with Nero , DVD player software , many now dont come with a disk .
