The screen (glass) or the LCD? If you can do it yourself (see youtube for guides), you can replace both for £20-30 (see 'bay). Its not too hard surprisingly.

i took my iphone back to apple shop was 11months old i had dropped it and the screen had smashed they gave me a new one as a goodwill gesture - go there first make an appointment though and good luck

Is it the glass or the actual screen that is broken?
if its the glass it can be replaced in about an hour for about £10 by yourself or in most cities you can find a place to do it for around £25 or so.

i was told by apple that when this happens you have to replace glass and digitiser so it's going to cost £89.99 for the repair using the above site, i know that if its an iphone then its £139 from apple don't know about the touch though

You can buy the glass and digitiser for a tenner now. All you need is a heat gun, about an hour and some pattience.

Apple have always been notoious for the cost of their repairs, but also known to offer good will gestues, so go seem them in store first and see what happens, if nothing it will be a 30quid repair (non apple).

I would suggest repairing it yourself, i've done a few ipods and iphones, very easy to do

You'll need a small jewellers screwdriver, a suction cup and some patience and light hands!!

This is if it's the actual lcd screen that's broken, if it's the digitiser, it's a bit more difficult and a home job can sometimes look unprofessional!
