My Son wants a job !!

Is anyone recruiting in Newport South Wales and looking for weekend staff. ?
My Son tours the shops with cvs daily, but to no avail.
He is 16, fit and energetic. Does not mind what work is available.

Any info appreciated.

Who thought job hunting was going to be easy? It's better that its a harder process so people work hard and appreciate that they have an income. I think the majority of my year went out and handed out CV till they got a job, and your not going to get a job immediatley. Just wait and have patience but continue to hand out your CV. And lots of students will be going Uni meaning vacant positions.

My Son took hours to fill this application form in. Like you say it is only to stack shelves.
I am glad I am not in their situation.

If he is determined enough, he will get something.

All mine never found CV's in shops much use, no response.

Try printing general info, gardening duties, shifting stuff with mobile contact. Might have more luck. Once word gets around, he will be in demand. Always shortage of garden help needed.

My son has just been laid off.........4 days after his 21st birthday....bad times

Hope he gets something soon OP - my daughter's been trying to find part time work after schoo/weekends while going back to school for 6th year. Went for her first ever interview at the Ceramic Experience and they didn't even have the decency to get back in touch to say she was unsuccessful. Not even a phone call never mind a letter. Makes me so mad as its so disheartening for the younger ones today to try and get a job as it is, never mind a little part time one.

Hope for my Son then. lol

Tell him to try something more ingenious...leaving a cv is useless they get shoved on a pile and ignored.
I dont know tell him to wrap it round a packet of bikkies and take it in personally, usuing it as a good excuse to stop and chat

read ads in local papers for gardening /building or whatever companies - tell him to give them a ring to see if any work available - phone numbers are there - good luck to him and others looking

(anyone see the story of fabric shop in Selby - 2 full time vacancies £9 an hour - couldnt get staff!!)

a) No.
b) Depends on the arrangement between the Hotel & National Car Parks; ask the Hotel.

Sounds like a method to promote the shop in a local paper (without paying for the advertisement) & gain more customers looking for bargains in a closing down sale that isn't going to happen as there will then be an influx of people wanting the job(s) mentioned that could not be filled previously.
