My wife is scared of balloons

Want to spread this story as much as possible.

To start, my wife is terrified of balloons.

We were in a petrol station / eatery place near the south of France on my way to visit some family, my wife is looking at the sandwich's..

All of a sudden she notices a child stood by her, must of been around 3/4 years old... With a balloon...

I hear my wife go "Oh my god, a balloon!" and starts speed walking.. For some reason, i've no idea why... This French child decided to chase her lol, my wife pegging it around the petrol station away from this deranged balloon welding 3 year old. Went on for a good 5 minutes.

All the while i'm literally on the floor in hysterics.

I've seen some funny stuff in my life, but that is at least in the top 3.

Anyone else got any funny phobia based stories?

It's "must have", "I'd have" and "would have" not "must of", "I'd of" and "would of".

Have the first 3 posts all been written by the same person?

The fear of balloons is known as Globophobia.

There are two variants of this phobia know as an 'uncommon phobia' (though many people have it), general fear of balloons texture shape etc and another where a person fears the balloon popping.

Note: the fear of big words is known as (get this)
Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia.

My best friend is terrified of sharks - she wont swim over the grates in swimming pools.
We watched too much James Bond as kids methinks!
She wont come to Seaworld with me when we go to Florida in may either.

I think there's a certain someone on here that's scared of balloons who may sympathise with the story.

I think it's one of the most stupid phobias I've ever heard of. Apart from my friend being scared of Quavers.

Tony_s1, Im glad you wrote that, i thought I was going mad. I'm forever correcting everyone and started to think I 'could have' been the one sayin it wrong.

Im scared of flies.. And the noise.. And the dopey half-dead ones.. Eww. Thats not silly though, thats a perfectly reasonable phobia..

Would that I had.

Anyway, I have a phobia about the misuse of the word "of" instead of "have", so I'm allowed to post on this thread! :-D
