myplace is a multi-million pound government programme to deliver world class places for young people to go.

This £270 million programme aims to create world class youth facilities across England, including some of the most disadvantaged areas across the country.

The programme provides capital grants of between £1 million and £5 million, which could help build a facility for young people in your area.

The Government knows that giving young people access to positive activities is an important tool in helping communities tackle antisocial behaviour, as well as helping young people to engage in their communities.

Delivered by the Big Lottery Fund, myplace will invest over the next three years in ambitious projects driven by the participation of young people.

Do you have the vision and drive to work with young people to deliver a world class place for them to go? If so, myplace may be able to help you turn your ideas into reality.

Funded projects must be able to deliver all the following outcomes:

More young people have safe and exciting places to go;

More young people participate in positive leisure time activities;

More young people have access to information, advice and support services; and

Stronger partnership working plan, deliver and operate financially sustainable facilities.

call me a cynic hon - most of this money will go to consultants - project leaders - a good chunk of it will be wasted on projects that dont get off the ground

i am at present working on a ''project'' getting information on what grants my local schools have had in the last 5 years - totally voluntary - unpaid - showing how much actually is put in to making it a better place for youngsters

trying to find article on a luton project - £23 million was given - and the people on the estate got nothing!! - not even a lick of paint

god i could go on but i would bore you

just out of interest for yourself

google your kiddies school - start with heritage lottery fund - think you will be surprised

then start asking how money was spent

I don't have children Holly.

They are setting up a youth centre near me.

I thought it was a good idea because the young people have nothing to do around here.

I also get sick of young people saying they are bored x x

sorry hon - thought you did

kids are always bored - mine are - with laptops - mp3 players - weekly magazines - going shopping - camping out in garden with their friends - bored!!

thats kids for you - the really bored ones are the little shizzles who break peoples windows harrass them - steal - start taking drugs - cos theyre bored !! - no - they want a bit of ''excitement''

what i am against is millions being wasted these projects - most of it spent on what i said in 1st post

instance - £millions spent on trying to stop teenage pregnancies - the number went up - would have been better off getting the girls in school to make chastity belts or devising a home vasectomy kit for for 15 - 16 yrs olds:-D

I know what you are saying.

I am going to see an exhibition on our local one on Wednesday.

So I might be a bit wiser x x
