N64 greatness?

Having found my N64 a couple of days ago i feel like blasting it out again. I'm looking for a list of games which are amazing for it, i only ever had Goldeneye, which is great, but am going to give a list to my brother in law to hunt out on e-bay for me!!

I have mario 64 DS and really like it, so will definitely get that. I know Zelda Ocarina of time is regarded as one of the best video games ever, i only have experience of Phantom Hourglass on the DS, no other Zelda games, i really enjoyed it, how would Ocarina of time compare? Is it a similar game?

What else? What were your favourite N64 games

Excitebike 64(fantastic!)

Banjo Kazooie

Diddy Kong Racing(my fave 'kart' racing game ever!)

I got a load of N64 classics in a shoebox upstairs :)
#2
A shoebox you still open and use............ :)

How's diddy kong racing compare to mario kart?
#3
Ocarina of Time isn;t very similar to the phantom hourglass as the phantom hourglass is more related to the GC game The Wind Waker but it's still a great game.

Other recommendations:
Perfect Dark
F-zero
Sin and Punishment (this'll be tricky as it was only released in japan i think well my version is japanese anyway so you'll have to find a boot thing to play imported games on your N64)
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Lylat Wars

there were others too but that's all I can think of atm.

Yeah......prob got 30-40 N64 games.

Diddy kong racing was miles better than Mario Kart 64!

It has a level structure exactly the same as Mario 64, win the first available race/level and you win a certain coloured balloon - you use the balloons to open up other races.

Other great feature is that many of the races can be raced in 2/3 diff ways. Karting, hovercrafts, airplanes all using subtle different bits of the same tracks.

It has 'boss' levels too.

Used to spend many a happy hour playing co-op story mode with my best bud back in the day.

Hit it up on a torrent if you got a DS with a 'magic' cart

.

I didn't necessarily mean the story, more the gameplay. Like i say i've never played any other Zelda games, do you still walk around solving puzzles to progress etc ?

lol nah :giggle:

Diddy Kong Racing DS was released a while back.

Ocarina of time is immense btw - nothin like any DS zelda games, it's a proper Big N production.

I only played it this year via the gamecube version(was packed in with Mario Kart Double Dash on Gamecube few years back.
#10
oic, didn't realise it was out on the DS, will check it out.

Just looked on e-bay for conkers fur-day and it's going for £14 with 2 days left!!!
#11
I can't tell you enough how good both Zelda's are. They are a must. Mario Kart
#12
Blast Corps was a good'un.

Lol I remember the South Park game being pretty good for a TV show tie-in.

I used to love the hill climbing levels on Excitebike 64, really fun side game

Can't believe how excited i am about getting some games that are nearly 10 years old, sod the Wii, that can gather dust for a bit! Just wish there was online play for Goldeneye!!

This might sound daft, but i can't remember how you save games on it, did you need anything extra, like a memory card? It's been so long since i played it!!

I think that had a chip in it, allows you 3 different save files, had to put the pistol sight over the top of the one you wanted to use with the analogue stick - I remember it costing me £40+ at the time lol.

Great game though, spent my first day with it on hardest mode setting trying to get past the first level.

Was my first experience of rumble pack too, I'm welling up here broseph

I spent pretty much all of my time at college playing it, my mate had a pretty big TV so we would play 4 player round his, the same level and one shot kills you, can't remember the title of the game type, we wasted days at a time playing it!! Good times
#16
I payed £169.99 for mine with a few games back in the day...
#17
Pilot Wings
Lylat Wars
Perfect Dark
Mario Kart
Star Wars: Rogue Leader
Super Smash Bros
#18
I paid £120 for my N64 - bought it off my best mate.

I used to like the ISS series - it was so different to the PSone version that you could alternate playing both.

I remember N64 ISS for being sooooo hard to score - 8/10 goals you scored had to be off the 'keeper re-bounds you forced over the line!.

I had that expansion chip for the better graphics, also had that sweet golden official N64 gamepad.

Had wires! :w00t:

Imagine a filthy version of mario with remade scenes of a squirrel as the matrix, saving private ryan and other references, the way i'm describing it is **** but the game is a must play

I played ISS64 again the other day.

Oh
My
God

I don't ever remember the game being that terrible.

But yeah, games to look out for are

Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Diddy Kong Racing
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie (Will cost a bit though)
Conkers Bad Fur Day (Again, not cheap)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Probably the best game ever)

and my personal favourite

WCW vs NWO: Revenge (wrestling)

I never got CBFD

I thought the reviews at the time were bad - maybe it's just me.

N64 had it's fair share of stinkers - I have Mission Impossible still

A game that divided many was that F1 game - I can't recall the exact name of it.

It was really hard to play, I thought it was the bollax at the time - graphics were well hott back then

It's got a 9.9 on IGN, so it must be pretty good, will hunt it out eventually, will have plenty to go on for a while.

WWF Wrestlemania 2000 seems to be viewed as good, i like wrestling so will have to check that out too.

So many games i missed out on when i was just playing Goldeneye!! I bought mine second hand from a shop in Leicester for about £80 with Goldeneye, i remember when i got my playsation for christmas i was told i could wait and have the N64, which was out a couple of months after, i decided not to wait and got the PlayStation, which i don't regret as it was awesome, i got it with Ridge Racer, Tekken, Theme Park, some ****** helicopter game and two others which can't of been that good as i can't remember them, all for £350!!!! and they say PS3s are expensive!!!!
