Hi, help needed !!! Im lost....

Ive got a Nokia N95 8gig, Ive got wireless Sky broadband - so Im told that when Im in the comfort of my own home I can surf the net on my phone for free using the WLAN connection to my Sky box.

Ive gone into Tools, gone into WLAN wizard, it finds a connection called SKY9736, which I assume is my wireless router, Ive defined the access point by giving it a passkey, Ive entered the passkey, then tried to connect, it says "connecting", the little bar moves along a bit, then stops, the screen stays white and it says "No gateway reply".

Anyone suggest whats wrong ?

Simple step by step instruction please, not very good with all this kinda thing.

Rep will be left for helpful folks, ass kickings will be given for sarcastic replies..... you know who you are !!!

Did you make sure the passkey was in the correct case i.e. upper? I had the same problem when I first tried to connect my iphone to my Sky router and that was the problem.

To connect my 360's wireless adapter I had to go into the router settings and add it as a trusted item (not the exact wording), it was relatively straightforward but might be an idea to google how to do it so you don't end up locking the whole thing down. Good luck!!

The passkey you need is on a sticker underneath your router, because it's a secure network you need that code to connect to the router.

and try turning it off for 30 secs then try it then m8

your passkey is the wireless key on the router somewhere, its a sticker and normally 8 numbers & or letters

That should do the trick, otherwise it'll be a call to Sky's ever-so-helpful call centre. :whistling:

You will need to set your sky router into pairing mode before it will connect. You only need to do this once to set the connection up. You probably did this originally for your laptop/computer to get the internet going on that. Your instruction manual will show you where the 'pairing button' on the sky router is.

I made the same mistake, however the pass-key or whatever the proper name for it is is definitely on a sticker on the router itself. Usually a mixture of letters & numbers.

OK, todays update, went home looked under the box, found the sticker, found the WEP key, wrote it down.

Then went into my N95, went to WLAN wizard, search for available WLANs, it found SKY9736, which must be my wireless SKY router, clicked on that, it asked for key, so i entered the key i wrote down, it said "invalid key" ????? So i thought, maybe i need to go through the define access point process again, so i went to connections found the SKY9736 bit, it asked for key, so I entered the key which i made up yesterday, which it accepted - but then just said access point defined, it didnt give me an option to change the key ???? So now im totally lost ????

You definitely got the key written correctly? Its probably in hex, so it will have numbers 0-9 and letters A-F. You haven't entered a 0 (zero) as an O (letter) or anything like that?
