I bit my nails for years and still do but stopped to grow them more my aunties wedding, i tried putting on false nailsfirst to give them time to gorw a bit then eused a nail coating that tasted horrible. work a charm and i had really pretty long nails.

I was told biting ur nails is like licking the inside of the toilet seat.
That soon made me stop...
#3
I bit all my to the quick for years.
I stopped when I became a teacher and realised that when I did demos all the kids would see my horrid finger ends.
#4
yes, I'd have to say go for the nasty tasting stuff. has to be a good deterrent!
#5
I often see people doing that. I have literally never chewed my nails though.

Am I missing out on much?
#6
or try paintin them and making them look protty then you will notice them more (not do it subconsciously) and want to stop doing it?

I go in stages, at the moment they're long, as I am doing an art project on hands and was ashamed of the photos of my horrid fingers. Plus I bought myself a new ring and wanted to show it off without having to hide my nails!

Superdrug sell an actual nail polish that tastes horrid, some places just sell the tubs you dip your fingers in but then anything you touch (or eat) tastes disgusting so steer clear! Go for the nail polish!
#8
i bite the skin around my nails which is worse.

Ewww that just put my teeth on edge - like when I imagine biting into a thick woolen jumper :(
#13
perhaps when you get the urge to bite them, have/do a manicure??? Might stop the craving (like holding pens when quitting smoking etc)
#14
think i'll get some of the nasty nail polish thing again lol

thing is i carry my nail cutter with me every time but i still prefer biting my nails than using them which is weird, i dont bother with manicures in salons cos my nails arent long but i clean them everyday at home

Yeah, I think that comes from a repressed memory I experienced as a young child. I bit into a big thick grey woolen jumper for no obvious reason - the kind that's really 'open' with all it's stitching.

I can still feel the fibres scraping against my teeth....

Makes me pull a 'sour' face.

I had a friend who bit her nails.. to stop she used to scrape her nails down a hard bar of soap, when she bit them she could taste the soap and she said it was foul. worked for her! lol

I never paint my nails in colour, but do use sally hanson maximum growth to help them grow as they dont grow to well
