This is for the father in-law ;/ went to put Sygate Personal firewall on which i use with XP but they don't do one for Vista atm. Ive had to put Windows FW on for the time being and was wondering if any of you good folk can point me out a good free FW for him to use?

tbh if he needs you to do this adding a software firewall will cause more probs than it will prevent.
If he's using a router that will have a built in firewall and with windows firewall should be ok, just make sure you disable upnp on the router

Not really, I thought so too, but kept wondering why it kept shutting down on my XP pc and why my pc kept slowing down.

Turns out hackers target Zonealarm pcs as theres a "backdoor" way of shutting it down to hack into the pc.

Lucky him Norton is the worse AV/firewall out there the free AVs like AVG are much better,

It slows down pc a lot as it hogs resources and is what hackers target.
