Hey im in desperate need of a cheap usb external hard drive to back up my PS3. It has recently been having a slow interface, ive looked around and ive seen that a good reformat of the hard drive would do it good. But i need to back up my data first.

If you are looking for a used one, post a thread in the For Sale/trade forum.
You won't find many external hard drives of less than 250GB that are cost effective. You may be better to borrow one.

You'll lose any protected saves on your PS3 btw.

An even longer shot is to borrow a spare PS3, or one that has no data that the owner wants to keep.

I keep a spare PS3 to do data transfers when upgrading an internal hard drive on a PS3. That way, I can keep the protected saves.
I could lend you an external drive, but it is only a 60GB one.
