I bought a zune 80 on ebay (item number 250521510502).
It came without any packaging or the headphones, broken (wouldn't save or play music) and scratched. I opened a paypal claim and got the response:

After carefully reviewing your case, we've determined that you'll be
eligible for a refund (including handling and postage) once you've returned
the merchandise to the seller.

Does this mean the cost of return posting? What posting should I use?

As the value is over £39 you should use special delivery (probable cost about £6) this way its fully tracked, so long as weight matches up with the original item paypal won't care even if you sent a brick back.

Do you have to fill in a customs form (he had to when sending it to me)?
#3
Did you get it from a uk seller ? If so you don't have to fill nothing in accept return address. Plus send it by Special Next Day Delivery.

Ahh forget what I said above as you didn't say it had to be returned overseas, not sure of the case now as to what method is best.

when you go to the post office say you want it "international signed for postage" costs a little bit more but you shouldnt need a customs form - just make sure your address is on the back of it ( marked UK also ! ) you will get a tracking number too...
hope this helps !

This really sucks (going to be left out of pocket for his problem). Have to formulate the worst line of feedback I can think of now.
#9
you should be able to claim back your costs too!
#10
Oh, least I have that.

Dont do that, that only insures it up to the postal company, and NOT to the sellers house.

Use royal mail AIRSURE.

Dont go OTT on it has he may be able to get ebay to remove the comment, stick to facts and nothing personal about seller,

Something like:

Arrived in very used and non-working order with the accesories missing.

avoid something like:

May the chicken of doom darken your doorstep for being a shyster:thumbsup:

It says on the website for airsure

When your mail is delivered the item will be electronically scanned by the postal operative delivering the item to confirm it has arrived. A signature is not taken but the electronic delivery confirmation is used to update our Track & Trace. If you specifically want your item to be signed for when it is delivered, we recommend you use International Signed For™.

you will need to fill out a customs sticker (post office has them) for the USA

Its gonna cost a fair bit to send international signed for to the USA (£23.44 for 1kg)

And it is only tracked in the UK so you could still get scammed by the seller as he can say he never got it back.

Airsure is £24.14 for 1kg but even they are not signed for.

Royal Mail Airsure Letters

This is our accelerated Airmail service available to certain destinations only. We put your mail on the first available flight to its country of destination and your Airsure item will be tracked electronically to the point of delivery. Use Track & Trace on www.royalmail.com to find out when your item has been delivered. Although your items receive priority treatment, the Airsure service does not guarantee delivery times.

Compensation

We may pay compensation for loss or damage of items on production of a copy of the certificate of posting. If you require extra compensation of up to £250 or up to £500 (depending on the country) there is an extra charge per item.

Trackable

Airsure items are electronically tracked to their destination, but are not signed for on delivery.

You won't get return postage back unless seller does it off their own back.

I am not going to tick that box.

then the seller will have to pay import duties so will probably refuse delivery
#25
I am still in contact with the seller, trying to come with a reasonable resolution.
