Need help fixing tumble dryer belt

The belt has snapped on my Indesit is60v tumble drier (took the lid off to confirm this). I'm usually pretty good at repairing things (done the oven and tumble dryer thermostats before) so thought I'd have a go. When I rang the local spares people they said it would be tricky as you need a special tool. I'm thinking this is probably a belt tensioning tool but could be wrong. Anyhows I can't find any instructions online at the usual places fixed4free.com etc. or anywhere so wondered if anyone has experience of doing this and can offer any help or advice? Thanks in advance :-)

Go down library and get yourself the haynes washer dryer repair manual. Follow the instructs on that.

I have repaired a varied selection of these myself, although not this model. I doubt you need any special tool. I certainly have never found one necessary. They probably just don't want you doing it yourself. Take the back off and have a look. Usually the motor to drum is simply spring loaded on an arm and the belt easily fits around them both. The only tool I have ever needed was a screwdriver to get the back off in the first place.

Over the years we've repaired loads of these belts, can't afford call out fees etc, they are usually quite easy but takes a bit of getting the belt around the drum...not hard, the bearings are harder. There are lots of websites that give you step by step instruction. Take the belt in with you as it has a code on it, then they can't give you the wrong one.
