imac

bigger screen, bigger hard drive, both handy for video/photo editing and viewing. Not as portable granted, but IMO a 13" screen is too small for what you're wanting to use it for.

edit - also a faster processor!

Definitely the imac, and if you can afford to, then up-spec it.. (add more RAM etc)
With video editing you want the biggest screen, fastest processor and definitely the biggest HD.. you'll be surprised how quickly you will fill the drive up - and working with external drives will be slower. Make sure you select the right EDU store as they are all different prices (the Uni one is the best discount)

I would go with something bigger like

A 13" screen is a pain for editing anything but word documents.

If your using pro apps like Photoshop or Aperture, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut, you need desktop real estate for your toolboxes, its a no brainer.

Only thing is, iMac doesnt fit in your bag and you need a hell of an extension.

Now a MacBook Pro and a big monitor for docking to at home... thats a nice combo.

But it all depends on if you have a) the cash b) your making any cash in what your doing.

That refurb 24" iMac looks rather tasty though
