Hiya,
I've been having problems with the internet speed and the internet full stop. I'm with talktalk and it decides to work as and when it wants.
I did a test on speedtest.net and will paste the details in the next box. Also, I'm having problems with my laptop keyboard, whenever I'm typing on say facebook or sometimes on here I have to keep going back and checking my spelling etc as it misses out letters, it also does it on notepad etc. I've had it since christmas and I do use it almost everyday (at the moment am on the desktop as the keyboard's better lol) but I don't see why the keyboard should play up. I've cleaned it and I don't eat or drink near it. Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance xxx

What speed does your router say, also speedtest.net results are so varied.

Register on here:
http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/

It's staffed by talk talk employees and is really good, they fixed all my problems, much better than the idiots on the phone.

Also do the talk talk speed test:
http://www.talktalkmembers.com/content/view/53/124/

If you register on the forums then you can link the speedtests to your account (by entering your phone number in the box after the test), and then the admin can access them.

You need your phone number and customer reference number to join, that's on your bill.

Thank you will try that now

Might sound a silly question really but are you using a wireless keyboard and mouse?

If so move closer to the reciever.

This happens with someone else I know and its that thats the cause - only new batteries tend to work the full range!

+1

sounds much more like your problem!

On my laptop it's just a normal keyboard stuck on the laptop you know like the average laptop? I dunno how else to explain it lol.
And with the connection speed, I'm shocked it's double the average, on our computers it's really slow and takes ages for the pages to load up, and the internet d/c's a lot. Is there another reason maybe?

you scanned your comp, you may have a virus or something slowing things down

that speed looks fine to me, way above what i get with talk talk, as for the keyboard thing, dont know what that could be, have you lost any fingers recently and you havnt adjusted your typing style;-) (wink)

sounds like spyware or maybe a trojan or even a worm

Well it's on both our computers (laptop and desktop) could the worm/virus/trojan have gone over the wireless router? I'm not up on these things so haven't got a clue lol.

I did a request before and installed ccleaner, and one where I had to D/C from internet to ensure if there was a trojan etc it couldn't re-install, but on the main computer I haven't done any of that.

clear out system using disk cleanup,
defrag hdd,
download and scan with www.malwarebytes.org,
consider stopping windows defender running resident by using msconfig...
oh and check your current anti-virus solution is working ok

windows defender is a anti-spyware program that sits running all the time(resident) tbh i haven't found it too be very good at detecting, is quite heavy on resources and really can be replaced with a little common sense when it comes to web browsing.. get rid and watch performance jump.

what internet package are you paying for with talktalk (in terms of Mbits per second usually).... 8Mbit?
#18
Do you use internet explorer to browse the web? If so, try using Firefox instead.

It's a different internet browser, and I find it a lot quicker.
