Need Itunes help!

I'm pulling my hair out - iTunes won't install the Apple Mobile Device driver! I have uninstalled ALL the apple software in the control panel, downloaded iTunes and re-installed it. It still won't read my iphone or the kids ipod touches - says the relevant driver isn't installed - it just stopped working one day. I have been trying this every couple of days for the last 2 months. I have tried everything that I can find on the internet. I've contacted Apple and they tell me just to uninstall and reinstall and won't offer any other help. All software that I use to put music on my iphone has to have the iTunes driver installed - so basically, I can't do it. I have iTunes on my laptop and it connects/reads all the ipods/iphone, no problem. All the apps/music I have downloaded are on my desktop pc, so all the things I've paid for have been wiped from the ipods/iphone because they are not on the laptop - even though I log in to the same account. Can anyone help?

I've had this problem before, it was an update of Avast Antivirus that was causing the problem for me, I turned Avast off & tried doing an install again & the Mobile Device Driver installed straight away with no problems, even if you don't use Avast you could try turning off whatever antivirus software you have while you try to install the Mobile Device Driver

This would be my solution (probably clearer than trying to explain it myself):

Do you ever have problems installing the latest Window updates?

I was having problems getting the Apple Application Support to install, without that iTunes wouldn't install properly.

Googled the error messages I was getting from the Window updates that wouldn't install, found a link for a Windows Fix It, ran that and everything worked straight away.

I'd spent hours googling for help beforehand, all those forums, typing new commands, switching off the firewalls, installing, uninstalling, so I can imagine your frustration, hope you get it sorted:thumbsup:

I did have issues, I've done what it says but still itunes won't recognise the iphone/ipods. Never mind.

I tried this initially but I haven't even got it on the list, so I can't click it - thanks anyway

Fiddlesticks! What a hassle.

Try opening the iTunes installer using Winrar (or 7-zip)
Extract: AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi

Double click and install it manually.

Done this, various times - I get an error messaging saying an error has occurred, and my computer hasnt been changed.

Gonna give up.:x
