better look at ebuyer, you'll get free delivery and something better for the money you spend, or if you got the knowledge make the pc yourself  always better!
#2
what you lookin to use your computer for?
#3
Does it have to be PCW Or comet? do you have vouchers for them or something or is it so you can get it straight away?
#4
yeah got voucher from there so Its gotta be from them

Would use it for general stuff don't need it to go daft. perhaps play some games ect, surfing, basic office use uploading pic that sort of thing.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to be looking for

if you dont know what ur looking for guess go with ur budget
#7
If you could ring up - this seems a fair price for a high street store and you would have £100 left over...

Comet have a few base units including:

http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=435961 for £319.99

Which has Vista Premium, 2.6GHz Dual core Athlon X2 5000+ (great processor), 2GB RAM (this will help Vista run more smoothly) and a 360GB hard drive (reasonable amount of storage). It doesn't say what graphics card, but you could ask them before buying to see if it will play the latest games, if that's required. Then that leaves you enough change out of the £400 to either upgrade the graphics or perhaps get an external hard drive for extra storage

Not as cheap as the one Sassie mentioned, differences are Vista Premium (cf Vista Basic) and the hard drive is bigger (320GB cf 250GB). Also ha a built-in card reader, but external ones can be picked up very cheaply .

PCW or Comet? Is it definately not Currys?

Are there any other shops?

Not that I know of they are the only two two that MrB mentioned

Looks like only Comet do base unit only (packages without a monitor) so your options are pretty limited if you don't want a monitor.
#19
yeah I was struggling to find base units on PCW web page
got a perfectly good moniter infact just upgrated the bleeding thing before the computer blew
#20
You might be best having a look around local stores to see if there are any special deals (ex-display models etc), which you could use the vouchers on.

Is the old computer totally beyond repair (or beyond being worth repairing?)

Hi Jen

Stick your vouchers on ebay (you should receive about 90% of their value) then go for one of the deals posted on here, i know you'll lose 10% on the vouchers but will get a better deal/price on here.

Thats the best tip so far. Or even sell them on here for approx £380.
