Need some help with my netbook

I have an eee PC 1008HE, and I have just increased the ram from 1gb to 2gb.

But when I check on the hardware components it still states that I have 1gb (0.99gb) of ram installed, yet i downloaded CPU-Z which states that I have 2gb.

Is my netbook utilising the full 2gb or is it only using 1gb of it? is it a problem with my netbook? When I change the amount of ram on my desktop it states in the bios that I have changed the amount of ram and asks me if im okay with that.

Any help would be great =]

when you say check hardware components where exactly are you looking?

If cpu-z shows the full 2GB i would trust this, try get another spec checking prog as well such as everest.

if you are under windoze hit ctl alt del , task man and performance tag and what does it say there for your physical mem?

it may infact only support upto 1gb RAM, dependent on the make/model of your netbook. Check the makers' site for more.

[FONT=Verdana]If you go into the BIOS on your netbook (access the BIOS menu, when you power it up) does it show 2GB worth of RAM installed? I don't have this specific model of netbook BUT from what I can see via the following video, the person carrying out the work saved his configuration changes.

YouTube - Upgrading RAM - eeepc 1008HA - to 2GB - Part 2

It's not something I would normally do (as the BIOS should be able to make the necessary changes itself) but thought it prudent to chuck that in there for you to consider, if you've not already done this - in addition to that what does the support guide show and have you checked out the ASUS EEE PC User Community & Forum to see if they have any further information present on the upgrade process?

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Cheers mate, really appreciating the help.

For some reason it doesn't load up the BIOS slow enough to press the f keys, it just goes straight to the windows logo:x

Read on the eee pc user forums that people might need to update the BIOS for it to recognise the ram upgrade, but I've never ever done a BIOS update in my life.:oops:

Note that to enter the BIOS set-up, you need to hit the F2 button several times from what I can find out there on the internet, as it the default setting is for a fast start-up on the netbook (it's not a model I've used before I'm afraid, so I have no personal experience of it).

Okay I went on the bios after bashing f2 like there was no tomorrow, it does say that I have 2gb installed on my netbook, its just my hardware area which states otherwise. Do I still need to update the BIOS?
