if its your first and only suit then get a black 2 button single breasted suit.

Don't go for one that is to fitted to allow your body size to fluctuate and stop you from wearing it.

its the most versatile so you can wear at interviews/weddings ect.

what occasion is it for and how long do you want to use if for after this event?

slaters, brill shop, ted baker suits are the best, pay a little extra and get a suit for life

What is your body shape?
if you are a bigger built guy i would advise a double vented jacket, it allows you to sit better in it.
(vents are the slits at the back of the jacket at the bottom. Topman actually do very nice suits at about £125 + 10% discount if you are a student. i've just bought one myself and i am incredibly happy with it!

slaters are great for suits if u got one near you, try tkmaxx if youve got one near you, they usually have a lot

if you want a top quality one that will lasta long time make sure its 100% wool or at least has a lot of wool in it

Avoid Burton, really bad quality, Next have raised their standards and if you have an outlet store near you then you can pick up a really nice suit within budget

make sure you go with a female friend though to tell you HOT or NOT :-D

slaters and tkmaxx, they are the only places you will get a high quality suit (100% wool) at a good price

depends on suit you choose, i say around an extra £50, they had 2 ted baker suits on for £300 so if you can get someone to get one to, can't remember individual prices

i got 2 from new look mens last year for £78. (£39/each)
Black and Grey, Although the black one started to fade in legs and shoulders after about 7-8 months of daily use.
Thats fine thought, i cant complain wearing Grey one now looks even better!

Dont go to Buffalo Bills for a suit* :w00t::w00t:

Burtons however do some really nice smart suits that are priced at around £80,

When I got a suit from the Crawley Slaters they slightly shortened one leg for me (old bike accident) for free and said that they also did free alterations for the life of the suit, so if you pile on some weight no problem!, might be worth asking if this still applies

If you go in Slaters they have salesperson there to help you ever step of the way. They will even alter the suit to fit you free when you buy a suit from them. I would suggest that you go to Slaters first since this is your first suit. I

As for a versatile suit, you should choose a 100% wool, single breasted suit in either grey or navy. My suggestion would be a dark grey.

But remember that people at Slaters are there to help but they are also salespeople, so bring a friend with you when you go to get an honest opinion on how you look in the suits.

I'd agree with the black 2 button single breasted part...for a first suit... but personally I'd get it fitted as best as possible...else it defeats the point of attempting to look sharp.

Quality of wool wise if you want to look super sharp... get at least a super 100 (it has to do with the thickness of the yarn).

wouldn't touch river island suits, they are awful
#26
Are they? This is from the expensive range. The 'white label'.

depends exactly what one you have then, but some of their suits have only 5% wool, some have none whatsoever, and only rarely are they more than 50% wool

I bought a really nice one from debenhams, but whilst looking came across a few decent ones but not in my size, I'm 6'3 and usually not catered for. Try looking in new look aswel as Debenhams

I got mine from Next Clearance
