went to b and q, wickes, etc looking for 3 new doors for the bedrooms. now the problem is that they dont do the sizes needed which are 6ft 8 tall by 2ft.45 wide. my brother whos a joiner basically said 3 options -

a) new casing around the doors inc new doors - no thanks, way too expensive to replaster, etc
b) find somewhere that custom fits - can see this being very expensive too
c) keep the originals and sand, repaint - however, one of them is a different pattern

wheres the best place online or instore to look for something like this? thanks

If he's a joiner then he'd know you can cut doors to fit!!!

Even the crappy hollow doors, have enough solid wood around the edge to cut., but i wood buy solid pine doors, you can get them for 20 each, if you want a good finish get a real joiner to cut them.

you need approx 203cm x 72.4cm

wickes sell doors
# Door Width: 762mm
# Door Height: 1981mm

so 2cms of each side and 5 off the top/bottom or spread it on both., you wont notice that much, and thats the cheapest way. I just had to build a partition wall, and had to scrimp on the door size to make both rooms bigger, so i did the same.

£27.99 at wickes, b&q might be cheaper (even try homebase),

Dont use a hand saw or jig saw to cut them, they will look s**t.!

Freecycle is the cheapest way to go - for some reason people are always giving away doors round here - there must be laods of really draughty homes near me.
